The semi-independent suspension, Fig. 1, consists of an axle with trailing arms and twisting cross beam, two coil springs, shock absorbers, upper spring insulators and spring compression bumpers. The axle assembly is attached to the underbody through rubber bushings located at the front end of rear axle. The rear axle brackets are integral with the underbody side rails. The two coil springs support the weight of the vehicle in the rear. Each spring is retained between a seat in the underbody and a seat welded to the top of the rear axle. A rubber cushion isolates the coil spring upper end from the underbody seat.
