Fuel Display Diagnosis

Disconnect fuel gauge sender wire in rear compartment and connect tester. Set resistance controls to values shown in TEST VALUES FOR FUEL LEVEL DISPLAY table. Turn ignition switch on after setting tester resistance.
Turn ignition off after checking reading. This allows for 30-second built-in information update delay between each new resistance setting. If gauge responds accurately, check rear compartment wires and sender. If not okay, repair wire or connector.
If gauge responded but not accurately or did not respond in step 2), remove cluster. Check for proper readings of voltage and resistance. See VOLTAGE AND RESISTANCE CHECK charts. Check for faulty printed circuit or instrument cluster connection.
If voltages and resistances are okay and connections are good, replace cluster. If voltages or resistances are bad, repair connections or wires to sender.

TEST VALUES FOR FUEL LEVEL DISPLAY
