Hydraulic Valve Lifters
Two types of lifters are used. Complete lifter assemblies are interchangeable but parts from one lifter are not interchangeable with another. Type "B" uses an inertia valve and retainer instead of a metering valve as in lifter "A". This inertia valve and retainer should not be removed from the push rod seat. To check valve "B1" shake the rod seat and inertia valve assembly; valve should move. Replace lifter if any parts worn or damaged. When reassembling, fill lifter with SAE 10 oil.
CAUTION:
Do not force plunger or work plunger up and down during reassembly. Coat bottom of new lifters with Molykote before installing.
