Hydraulic Valve Lifters
Two types of lifters are used. Complete lifter assemblies are interchangeable but parts from one lifter are not interchangeable with another. Type "B" uses an inertia valve and retainer instead of @ metering valve as in lifter "A". This inertia valve and retainer should not be removed from push rod seat. To check type "B", shake the rod seat and inertia valve assembly; valve should move. Replace lifter if any parts are worn or damaged. When reassembling, fill lifter with SAE I 0 oil.
CAUTION:
Do nor force plunger or work plunger up and down during reassembly. Coat bottom or new lifters with Molykote before installing.
