Transfer Case Shift Cam Shaft Bearing
CAUTION:
Refer to Machined Surface Damage Caution .
- Inspect all components or sub-components and perform any repair procedure necessary to fix the damage. If the damage cannot be repaired, replace the component or sub-component as indicated.
- Clean the front case half in cleaning solvent and air dry.
- Remove any sealant from the sealing surface.
- Inspect the transfer case front case half (1) for cracks, broken areas, or other damage. The component must be replaced if damage is found.
- Inspect the transfer case front output shaft front bearing bore (2). Replace the front case half assembly if a bearing has spun or cracks are detected.
- Inspect the transfer case four wheel drive actuator shaft bearing bore (3). Replace the front case half assembly if a bearing has spun or cracks are detected.
- Inspect the transfer case access door (4).
- Inspect the transfer case input shaft bearing bore (5). Replace the front case half assembly if a bearing has spun or cracks are detected.
- Inspect the case sealing surface (6). Repair small scratches or nicks with a soft stone.
- Inspect the transfer case thread bolt holes (7). Repair any damaged threads.
- Inspect the transfer case locating pin holes (8). Replace the front case half assembly if a locating pin hole is damaged.
- Inspect the transfer case locating pins (9). Repair or replace loose, missing, or damaged locating pins.
- Inspect the transfer case high/low internal gear (10). This component is not serviceable and is replaced by replacing the front case half assembly. Replace the front case half assembly if the gear is loose in the case, or if the gear teeth are chipped or embedded with debris.
- Remove and discard the transfer case shift cam shaft bearing (11). Transfer Case Four Wheel Drive Actuator Lever Shaft Bearing Replacement - Front (MGM or MGU) , or Transfer Case Four Wheel Drive Actuator Lever Shaft Bearing Replacement - Front (MYD)
Transfer Case Front Output Shaft Seal
CAUTION:

- Inspect the transfer case front output shaft front bearing bore (2). Replace the front case half assembly if a bearing has spun or cracks are detected.
- Inspect the transfer case four wheel drive actuator shaft bearing bore (3). Replace the front case half assembly if a bearing has spun or cracks are detected.
- Inspect the transfer case studs (4). Replace any damaged studs.
- Inspect the transfer case input shaft bearing bore (5). Replace the front case half assembly if a bearing has spun or cracks are detected.
- Inspect the case sealing surface (6). Repair small scratches or nicks with a soft stone.
- Inspect the transfer case locating pin holes (7). Replace the front case half assembly if a bearing has spun or cracks are detected.
- Inspect the transfer case thread bolt holes (8). Repair any damaged threads.
- Inspect the transfer case locating pins (9). Repair or replace loose, missing, or damaged locating pins.
- Inspect the transfer case high/low internal gear (10). This component is not serviceable and is replaced by replacing the front case half assembly. Replace the front case half assembly if the gear is loose in the case, or if the gear teeth are chipped or embedded with debris.
- Remove and DISCARD the transfer case four wheel drive actuator lever shaft bearing (11). Transfer Case Four Wheel Drive Actuator Lever Shaft Bearing Replacement - Front (MGM or MGU) , or Transfer Case Four Wheel Drive Actuator Lever Shaft Bearing Replacement - Front (MYD)
