Front Caster and Camber Adjustment

- The caster and camber adjustments are made by rotating the front lower control arm bolt and cam in the slotted frame bracket in order to reposition the front lower control arm.
- Jounce the front bumper 3 times to allow the vehicle to return to normal height.
- For an accurate caster and camber measurement and adjustment, ensure that the vehicle is at curb height. Trim Height Inspection
- Measure the wheel alignment. Wheel Alignment Measurement
Determine the positive caster angle (+) or negative caster angle (-).
Determine the positive camber (+) or negative camber (-) angle.
If equipped, remove and DISCARD the 2 front upper control arm adjust cam retainers (1)
- Front Upper Control Arm Nut (2) - Loosen [2x]
- If a frame pin (4) is missing, a 6.35 mm (0.25 in) dowel rod or a punch can be utilized as a temporary alignment aid to properly center the cam to the bracket, while making adjustments and torquing the front upper control arm nuts (2).
- Adjust the caster and the camber angle by turning the front upper control arm bolts (3) until the specifications have been met. When the adjustments are complete, hold the front upper control arm bolts (3) in order to ensure the position does not change while tightening the front upper control arm nuts (2). - Verify that the caster and the camber readings are still within specifications. Wheel Alignment Specifications
- When the caster and camber are within specifications, adjust the toe.
Clamp (1) - Disengage
- Steering Linkage Inner Tie Rod Nut (3) - Loosen
- Rotate the steering linkage inner tie rod (2) as necessary to achieve the required toe specification setting. Wheel Alignment Specifications
Steering Linkage Inner Tie Rod Nut (2) - Tighten - Fastener Specifications
- Clamp (1) - Engage
- Check the toe setting after tightening.
- Re-adjust the toe setting if necessary.
- Center the steering wheel position sensor. Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Centering
- Clear DTCs
NOTE:
Caster measurements are now relative to ground.
NOTE:
For an accurate reading, do not push or pull on the tires during the alignment process.
NOTE:
While performing a front end alignment it may be noticed that the frame pins (4) are missing. The frame pins serve as a pilot for the alignment cams when adjusting the front caster and camber.
