Component Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2023 GMC Sierra 3500 HD and 2023 GMC Sierra 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector: S2 Transmission Manual Shift Switch
  3. Test for 5, 800 to 6, 400 ohms between the test points: Signal terminal 1 & Ground terminal 2
    • If not between 5, 800 and 6, 400 ohms 

      Replace the component: S2 Transmission Manual Shift Switch

    • Go to next step: If between 5, 800 and 6, 400 ohms 
  4. Operate the component: S2 Transmission Manual Shift Switch - +orUpshift
  5. Test for 575 to 700 ohms between the test points: Signal terminal 1 & Ground terminal 2
    • If not between 575 and 700 ohms 

      Replace the component: S2 Transmission Manual Shift Switch

    • Go to next step: If between 575 and 700 ohms 
  6. Operate the component: S2 Transmission Manual Shift Switch - -orDownshift
  7. Test for 1900 to 2100 ohms between the test points: Signal terminal 1 & Ground terminal 2
    • If not between 1900 and 2100 ohms 

      Replace the component: S2 Transmission Manual Shift Switch

    • Go to next step: If between 1900 and 2100 ohms 
  8. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Each terminal of the component & The component's housing
    • If less than infinite resistance 

      Replace the component: S2 Transmission Manual Shift Switch

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  9. All OK.
