Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the electronic transmission range selector manual park release cable from the transmission and position out of the way. Electronic Transmission Range Selector Manual Park Release Cable Replacement
- Drain the transmission fluid. Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill NOTE:
Radiator assembly removed for clarity.
- Disconnect the control valve body electrical connector (1) then unclip all necessary wiring harness retainers from the transmission.
- Disconnect and position the wiring harness (2) out of the way.
- Disconnect all necessary wiring harness retainers and electrical connectors from the transmission.
- Remove the automatic transmission fluid cooler exchanger inlet pipe from the transmission. Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Heat Exchanger Inlet Pipe Replacement
- Remove the automatic transmission fluid cooler exchanger outlet pipe from the transmission. Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Heat Exchanger Outlet Pipe Replacement
- Remove the automatic transmission fluid cooler exchanger from the transmission. Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Exchanger Replacement
- Plug and / or cap the pipes and the transmission to prevent contamination.
- Remove the transmission front mount (4). Transmission Mount Replacement (Left Side) Transmission Mount Replacement (Front)
- Remove the battery tray. Battery Tray Replacement
- Remove the engine wiring harness bracket bolt (1).
- Reposition the electrical wiring harness (2) away from the upper transmission bolts.
- Remove the 2 transmission bolts (1).
- Install the engine support fixture. Engine Support Fixture
- Remove the 4 transmission mount transmission side bolts (3). Transmission Mount Replacement (Left Side) Transmission Mount Replacement (Front)
- Disconnect the left side front wheel drive half shaft from the transmission. Front Wheel Drive Shaft Oil Seal Replacement (Right Side) Front Wheel Drive Shaft Oil Seal Replacement (Left Side)
- Disconnect the right side front wheel drive half shaft from the transmission. Front Wheel Drive Shaft Oil Seal Replacement (Right Side) Front Wheel Drive Shaft Oil Seal Replacement (Left Side)

- Remove the drivetrain and front suspension cradle. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation
- Remove the starter. Starter Replacement (LGX)Starter Replacement (LSY)
- Mark the relationship of the flex plate to the torque converter for reassembly.
- Remove the torque converter bolts (1).
- Lower the transmission side with the support fixture to allow clearance for removal.
- Unclip the engine wiring harness from the transmission.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Use a suitable transmission jack in order to support the transmission.
- Remove the 3 transmission bolts (1).
- Remove the torque converter cover (2).
- Remove the 2 transmission bolts (1).NOTE:
Ensure the torque converter remains securely in place on the transmission input shaft while separating and removing the transmission.
- Separate the transmission from the engine.
- Lower the transmission with the transmission jack far enough to remove the transmission.
- Transfer components as necessary.
