Circuit/System Verification
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify DTC P0245, P0246, P0249, P0250, P0641, P0651, P0697, P06A3, P103A, P10BE is not set.
- If any of the DTCs are set
- Go to next step: If none of the DTCs are set
- Verify DTC P2AB8, P2AB9, P2ABB, P2ABC, P2B81, P2B82, P2B93, P2B94, U0644, U0674 is not set.
- If only DTC P2AB8, P2AB9, P2ABB, P2ABC, P2B81, P2B82 is set
Replace the appropriate component: M128 Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator
- If DTC U0644, U0674 and one or more of the DTCs P2AB8, P2AB9, P2ABB, P2ABC, P2B81, P2B82 is set
Refer to: Circuit/System Testing
- Go to next step: If only DTC P2B93, P2B94 is set
- If only DTC P2AB8, P2AB9, P2ABB, P2ABC, P2B81, P2B82 is set
- Engine - Idling - At normal operating temperature
- Perform the scan tool control function: Turbocharger Wastegate Position - Increase & Decrease
Verify the control rod of the actuator moves smoothly over the full range.
- If the control rod does not move smoothly over the full range
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Verify a condition does not exist with the component: Turbocharger
- Mechanically stuck control rod. - Visible Damage / Incorrect connection
- Wastegate Flap - Mechanically stuck / Binding or Sticking @ Closed / Open
- Mechanically damaged - Debris/Visible Damage
- If a condition exists
Repair or replace as necessary - Refer to: Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger Cleaning and Inspection Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger Overhaul .
- Go to next step: If the control rod moves smoothly over the full range
- Verify the scan tool parameter: Turbocharger Wastegate Position = The value should not spike or drop out.
Perform the action while monitoring the parameter:
- Wiggle the harness and connector: M128 Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator
- Wiggle the harness and connector: K20 Engine Control Module
- If the value spikes or drops out
Repair as necessary - Wiring / Terminal (s) / Electrical Connector (s)
- Go to next step: If the value does not spike or drop out
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
Verify the DTC does not set.
- If the DTC sets

- Go to next step: If the DTC does not set
- If the DTC sets
- All OK.
