Circuit/System Verification

    NOTE:

    Verify the engine has the correct oil level and the correct oil pressure before continuing with this diagnostic.

  1. Engine - Running @ 1000 to 1500 RPM
  2. Verify the scan tool parameter:
    • Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve Control Circuit High Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve Control Circuit Low Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve Control Circuit Open Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve Control Circuit High Test Status Bank 2 = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve Control Circuit Low Test Status Bank 2 = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve Control Circuit Open Test Status Bank 2 = Not Run or Okay
    • If not the specified state 

      Refer to: Circuit/System Testing

    • Go to next step: If the specified state 
  3. Verify the scan tool parameter:
    • Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve Control Circuit High Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve Control Circuit Low Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve Control Circuit Open Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve Control Circuit High Test Status Bank 2 = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve Control Circuit Low Test Status Bank 2 = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve Control Circuit Open Test Status Bank 2 = Not Run or Okay
    • Perform the action while monitoring the parameter:
    • Wiggle the harness and connector: Q84 Camshaft Position Actuator Park Lock Solenoid Valve
    • Wiggle the harness and connector: K20 Engine Control Module
    • If not the specified state 

      Repair as necessary - Wiring / Terminal (s) / Electrical Connector (s)

    • Go to next step: If the specified state 
  4. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

    Verify the DTC does not set.

    • If the DTC sets 

      Refer to: Circuit/System Testing

    • Go to next step: If the DTC is not set 
  5. All OK.
