Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
- Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LGY Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LGY GE 47716)
Intake Manifold Cover (2) - Remove - Intake Manifold Cover Replacement
- Remove the front compartment front sight shield. Front Compartment Front Sight Shield Replacement
Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Clamp (1) - Disengage - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
- Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose (2) @ Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe - Disconnect
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
- Engine Wiring Harness Junction Block - Remove - Engine Wiring Harness Junction Block Replacement
Harness Connector (1) - Disconnect
Engine Control Module Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect [ 4X ]
- Detach harness retainers and reposition the engine harness on the engine.
Radiator Inlet Hose Clamp (1) @ Water Outlet - Disengage - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
- Radiator Inlet Hose (2) @ Water Outlet - Remove
- Charge Air Cooler Coolant Hose - Remove - Charge Air Cooler Cover Replacement
Radiator Outlet Hose Clamp (1) @ Water Pump Inlet Pipe - Disengage - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
- Radiator Outlet Hose (2) @ Water Pump Inlet Pipe - Remove
Engine Oil Cooler Inlet Hose Clamp (1) @ Engine Oil Cooler Inlet Pipe - Disengage - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
- Engine Oil Cooler Inlet Hose (2) @ Engine Oil Cooler Inlet Pipe - Remove
Heater Inlet Hose (2) @ Heater Core - Disconnect - Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LSY) , or Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LGY)
- Heater Outlet Hose Clamp (3) - Disengage - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
- Heater Outlet Hose (4) - Disconnect
Fuel Feed Pipe (1) - Remove - Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement
- Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Pipe @ Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve - Disconnect - Evaporative Emission Pipe Replacement
Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Nut (2) - Remove
- Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose (3) - Remove
- Sealing Washer (1) - Remove and DISCARD
Air Conditioning Evaporative Connector Hose/Tube and Compressor and Condenser Hose Nut (1) - Remove
- Air Conditioning Evaporative Connector Hose/Tube and Compressor and Condenser Hose (3) - Remove
- Sealing Washer (2) - Remove and DISCARD
Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Nut (3) @ Transmission Fluid Cooler - Remove - Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Replacement (LGY, AWD, RWD)
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Clip (1) @ Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose - Disconnect
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Bracket Bolt (2) @ Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Hose - Remove
- Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter-Right Side - Remove - Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side
- Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter-Left Side - Remove - Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side
- Remove the lower transmission bolts and disconnect all transmission electrical connectors and wiring harness retainers. Transmission Replacement (AWD)

Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft-Right Side (1) - Separate - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side
- Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft-Left Side (1) - Separate - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side
- Front Differential Carrier Assembly - Remove - Front Differential Carrier Assembly Replacement

Stabilizer Shaft Link- Left Side and Right Side (1) @ Stabilizer Shaft - Remove - Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (FE2) , or Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (FE3)

Front Lower Control Front Link- Left Side and Right Side (1) @ Steering Knuckle - Separate - Front Lower Control Front Link Replacement (AWD)

Front Lower Control Rear Link- Left Side and Right Side (1) @ Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle - Separate - Front Lower Control Rear Link Replacement (AWD)
Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @ Steering Gear - Disconnect - Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (AWD)
Disconnect the steering gear electrical connectors. (1)
Wiring Harness Retainer (1) - Disengage [ 6x ]
Engine Mount Nut-Left Side (1) - Remove
Engine Mount Nut-Right Side (1) - Remove
- Secure the vehicle body to the vehicle hoist using suitable straps or binders.
Transmission Mount Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [ 4X ] - Transmission Mount Replacement (AWD)
- Lower the powertrain and drivetrain and front suspension cradle onto the GE-52200 Propulsion System Lift Table or a suitable support table.
Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Bolt (2) - Remove and DISCARD [ 4X ]
- Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Rear Bolt (1) - Remove and DISCARD [ 2x ]
- Secure the powertrain to the table using suitable straps and binders or chains.
- Ensure when lowering the engine, transmission and front suspension cradle, the following items are clear from the drivetrain and front suspension cradle:
- Vacuum lines
- Steering knuckles
- Electrical wiring harnesses
- Oil cooler lines
- With the aid of an assistant, carefully lower the engine, transmission and front suspension cradle.
- Separate the transmission from the engine assembly. Transmission Replacement (AWD)
- Transfer components as necessary.
Removing the powertrain assembly from the vehicle could cause an unstable balance condition with the vehicle body on the vehicle hoist. Securing the vehicle body to the hoist is necessary.
