Charger Air Cooler Cover Inspection Procedure

Inspect the charge air cooler cover for the following conditions:
- Damage to the inside of the connector (1)
- Damage to the mounting holes to intake manifold (2)
- Damage to the intake manifold seal surface (3)
- Damage to the throttle body seal surface (4)
- Damage to the right side charge air cooler seal surface (5)
- Damage to the right side charge air cooler mounting holes (6)
Inspect the charge air cooler cover for the following conditions:
- Damage to the charge air cooler mounting holes (1)
- Damage to the outside of the connector (2)
- Damage to the left side charge air cooler seal surface (3)
- Damage to the left side charge air cooler mounting holes (4)
- Damage to the evaporative emission canister purge connector (5)
- Inspect the charge air cooler cover sealing surface for warpage.
- Locate a straight edge across the lower intake manifold sealing surface.
- Insert a feeler gauge between the lower intake manifold and the straight edge. A lower intake manifold with warpage in excess of 0.50 mm (0.020 in) must be replaced.
- Repair or replace the charge air cooler cover as necessary.
