Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Support the transmission with a suitable jack.
- Remove the J-21366 Torque Converter Holding Strap from the transmission bell housing.
- Install the transmission to the engine.
- CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
Transmission Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] 58 N.m (43 lb ft)
Transmission Bolt (1) - Install and tighten58 N.m (43 lb ft)
Transmission Stud (1) - Install and tighten [2x] 58 N.m (43 lb ft)
- Connect the transmission vent hose to the transmission.
- Align the torque converter to flex plate orientation marks made during the removal procedure.
- NOTE:
Torque converter bolts are self-locking and must be replaced with NEW torque converter bolts every time the bolts are removed.
Complete the following steps for all torque converter bolts (1):
- Rotate the crankshaft balancer center bolt clockwise ONLY, in order to align the torque converter bolt holes in the flexplate with the starter opening in the engine block.
- Install all NEW torque converter bolts (1) and tighten to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).
Transmission Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] 58 N.m (43 lb ft)
Transmission Stud (1) - Install and tighten [2x] 58 N.m (43 lb ft)
- Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter - Install - Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement
Install the transmission close out plug (1).
Connect the electrical connector. (1)
- Install the retainers. (2)
- Install the starter. Starter Replacement (LSY) , or Starter Replacement (LGY) , or Starter Replacement (LT4)
- Engine Coolant Heater Exhaust Pipe - Install - Engine Coolant Heater Exhaust Pipe Replacement
- Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe - Install - Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement (LGY) , or Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement (LSY Auxiliary Water Pump Inlet Pipe to Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose) , or Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement (LSY Engine Block to Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve)
Transfer Case Assembly (2) - Install - Transfer Case Assembly Replacement
- Remove the transmission jack.
- Check the transmission fluid level and fill if necessary. Transmission Fluid Level and Condition Check
- Lower the vehicle.
- Perform the solenoid valve characterization. Q77 Transmission Control Solenoid Valve Characterization Programming
- Check for leaks.
