Installation Procedure

    Oil Pump Gasket (2) - Install NEW

  2. Oil Pump Drive Shaft (1) - Install

    Oil Pump (1) - Install

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Oil Pump Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Balancer Shaft Bearing (3) - Install

  6. Balancer Shaft Bearing Cap (2) - Install
  7. Balancer Shaft Housing Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Electrical Connector (1) - Connect

    Oil Pump Suction Pipe Gasket (3) - Install NEW

  10. Oil Pump Suction Pipe (2) - Install
  11. Oil Pump Suction Pipe Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Wipe the oil pan surface with the Adhesion Plastic Pan Primer Promoter using a clean shop towel. Allow the cleaner to flash / evaporate. Wipe off the sealing surfaces with a lint free cloth. Do not touch the sealing surface after cleaning to avoid inducing containment debris to the bonding surface area. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

  13. Ensure proper use of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. Use of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) and Anaerobic Sealant
  14. NOTE:

    Do not allow sealant to skim over, the oil pan must be installed within 8 minutes of sealer application.

  15. Apply a 3 mm bead of sealant (1) around the seal bead path, as shown.

    NOTE:

    Use the front cradle to rest the oil pan on while feeding the EN-52483  Cover Installation Guide Pins through the oil pan bolt holes in two locations to keep oil pan square and aid in alignment.

    Oil Pan (1) - Install NEW

  18. NOTE:

    Install some lower oil pan bolts to secure the oil pan.

  19. Lower Oil Pan Bolt (2) - Install and hand tighten [4x]
  20. EN-52483  Cover Installation Guide Pins - Remove [2x]
  21. NOTE:

    Install the remaining lower oil pan bolts.

  22. Lower Oil Pan Bolt (2) - Install and hand tighten [16x]
  23. Lower Oil Pan Bolt (2) - Tighten in sequence [20x] - Fastener Specifications

    {If equipped} Front Crossmember Brace (2) - Install

  25. {If equipped} Front Crossmember Brace Nut (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Oil Pan Drain Plug (1) - Install

  27. Lower the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  28. Fill the engine with the appropriate oil type and quantity.
  29. Install the oil fill cap.
  30. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  31. Operate the engine, check for leaks, and oil pressure.
  32. Perform the engine oil life reset. GM Oil Life System Resetting (With Scan Tool) , or GM Oil Life System Resetting (Without Scan Tool)
