Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Remove the oil fill cap.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- NOTE:
Do NOT remove oil filter.
Oil Pan Drain Plug (1) - Remove
- Drain the engine oil into a suitable container.
{If equipped} Front Crossmember Brace Nut (1) - Remove [4x]
- {If equipped} Front Crossmember Brace (2) - Remove
Lower Oil Pan Bolt (1) - Remove [17x]
- Locate the four threaded insert jack screw locations on the lower oil pan. Use four lower oil pan bolts in these locations, and tighten the bolts by hand 1 to 2 turns each in a uniform manner, rotating between bolts until the oil pan has full separation from the lower crankcase extension.
- Oil Pan (2) - Remove and DISCARD
Oil Pump Suction Pipe Bolt (1) - Remove
- Oil Pump Suction Pipe (2) - Remove
- Oil Pump Suction Pipe Gasket (3) - Remove and DISCARD
Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect
Balancer Shaft Housing Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
- Balancer Shaft Bearing Cap (2) - Remove
- Balancer Shaft Bearing (3) - Remove
- NOTE:
Leave one oil pump bolt threaded into the oil pump to assist with oil pump removal.
Oil Pump Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]
- NOTE:
Apply pressure on the oil pump drive shaft as indicated by the arrow to keep the oil pump drive shaft inside of the oil pump while removing the oil pump.
Oil Pump (1) - Remove
Oil Pump Drive Shaft (1) - Remove
- Oil Pump Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD
NOTE:
Do not pry on the oil pan to lower crankcase extension as the sealing surface will become damaged.
