Disassemble Procedure
- NOTE:
Tamper proof line.
Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube (1) - Remove
- Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose Fitting (2) - Remove
Camshaft Position Actuator Bolt (1) - Remove [12x]
- Rotate the actuator clockwise and counter clockwise to loosen up the O-ring in the cam cover bore. Even with the error-proofing tabs, the actuator can be rotated slightly to loosen up the O-ring in the bore.
- Do not pry the actuator loose from the cover using any lever such as screw driver. Prying the actuator between the flange plate to the cover boss can separate the guide from the flange plate.
- Pull the actuator straight out of the cover.
- Camshaft Lobe Position Actuator - Exhaust (2) - Remove [2x]
- Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Seal (3) - Remove and DISCARD [6x]
- Rotate the actuator clockwise and counter clockwise to loosen up the O-ring in the cam cover bore. Even with the error-proofing tabs, the actuator can be rotated slightly to loosen up the O-ring in the bore.
- Do not pry the actuator loose from the cover using any lever such as screw driver. Prying the actuator between the flange plate to the cover boss can separate the guide from the flange plate.
- Pull the actuator straight out of the cover.
- Camshaft Lobe Position Actuator - Intake (4) - Remove [4x]
Camshaft Position Sensor Bolt (1) - Remove [6x]
- Camshaft Interior Lobe Sensor (2) - Remove [6x]
- Camshaft Position Sensor Seal (3) - Remove and DISCARD [6x]
The EN-52462 - A Camshaft Tool can be removed from the camshaft carrier (1) if camshafts need replaced.
Camshaft Bearing Cap Bolt (1) - Remove [25x]
- Camshaft Bearing Lower Cap (2) - Remove
- Camshaft Bearing Lower Cap (3) - Remove
- Camshaft Bearing Front Cap (4) - Remove
- Engine Front Cover Locating Pin (5) - Remove [6x]
Intake Camshaft (1) - Remove
- Exhaust Camshaft (2) - Remove
