Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  2. Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (L3B Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (L3B GE 47716)
  3. Lower the vehicle.

    Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) - Remove

    Intake Manifold Cover Insulator (1) - Remove

    Engine Wiring Harness Bolt (1) - Remove

  7. Engine Wiring Harness (4) - Reposition

    Oil Level Indicator Tube Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove

    Radiator Inlet Hose Clamp (1) @ Radiator - Disengage [1x] - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type

  11. Radiator Inlet Hose Clip (2) @ Radiator Inlet Hose Bracket - Remove
  12. Radiator Inlet Hose (3) @ Radiator - Reposition away
  13. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) - Remove

  15. Push Pin (2) - Remove [2x]
  16. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (3) - Remove

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (3) - Remove

  18. Push Pin (2) - Remove [2x]

    Front Compartment Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

    {If equipped} Front Crossmember Brace Nut (1) - Remove [4x]

    Hose Clamp (1) - Disengage [2x]

  25. Engine Oil Cooler Coolant Outlet Hose (2) - Reposition away

    Hose Clamp (1) - Disengage [2x]

  27. Engine Oil Cooler Coolant Inlet Hose (2) - Reposition away

    Retainer (1) - Unclip [3x]

  29. Engine Wiring Harness (2) - Reposition away
  30. Lower the vehicle.

    Engine Mount Bolt (1) - Loosen3/4 [2x]

  32. Engine Mount Nut (2) - Remove
  33. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

    Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect

    Position a screw jack and a block of wood under the transmission bell-housing.

  36. Engine Mount Bolt (1) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
  37. Raise screw jack just enough to remove the engine mount.

    Engine Mount (1) - Remove

    CAUTION:

    Phenolic spacer must be present to prevent galvanic/corrosive reaction and/or excessive temperature conduction between engine mount bracket and engine mount. Replace mount if phenolic spacer is missing or damaged. Failure to ensure phenolic spacer is intact and not damaged can lead to premature failure of engine mount and/or engine mount bracket.

    Inspect the engine mount to ensure the phenolic spacer (1) is in place and not damaged.
