Installation Procedure

    Maneuver the rear brake crossover pipe (3) back into the vehicle.

  2. Secure the rear brake crossover pipe to the 2 retainers (1).
  3. Remove the cap from the rear brake crossover pipe inlet.
  4. Remove the plug from the brake pipe union outlet.
  5. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  6. Rear Brake Pipe Nut (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Secure the rear brake crossover pipe to the retainer (2).

  8. Remove the cap from the rear brake crossover pipe outlet.
  9. Remove the plug from the rear brake hose inlet.
  10. Rear Brake Pipe Nut (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    With assistance, remove fuel tank from bench and place on a suitable adjustable jack.

  12. Guide the fuel tank fill hose into the fuel tank fill pipe when raising fuel tank.
  13. Fuel Tank (1) - Install

    Fuel Tank Strap (3) - Install [2x]

  15. Fuel Tank Strap Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  16. Fuel Tank Strap Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  17. Remove adjustable jack under the fuel tank.

    Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Hose (6) - Connect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

  19. Fuel Tank Vent Hose (5) - Connect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  20. Fuel Tank Filler Evaporative Emission Valve Hose (4) - Connect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  21. Fuel Tank Filler Hose - (3) Install
  22. Fuel Tank Filler Hose Clamp (2) - Tighten - Fastener Specifications
  23. Fuel Tank Filler Pipe Ground Bolt (1) Tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Fuel Pump Fuel Feed Hose (2) - Connect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

  25. Fuel Tank Vent Valve Hose (1) - Connect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

    Wiring Harness Connector (1) - Connect [2x]

  27. Install the harness retainers as needed.

    Apply a thin layer of grease to the transmission output shaft splines (1). Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

  29. Loosely install a NEW propeller shaft hub clamp (3) to the propeller shaft joint boot.
  30. Support and secure the propeller shaft (2) to a suitable hydraulic jack stand.
  31. Propeller Shaft (2) - Install

    Prepare the 2 propeller shaft bearing support bolts (1) for installation as follows:

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  33. Propeller Shaft Bearing Support Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  34. Remove the hydraulic jack stand supporting the propeller shaft.

    Prepare the 3 rear propeller shaft bolts (1) and nuts (3) for installation as follows:

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  36. Align the relationship marks (2) made on the propeller shaft and the rear differential flange.
  37. Rear Propeller Shaft Bolt (1) - Install [3x]
  38. Rear Propeller Shaft Nut (3) - Loosely install [3x]
  39. Rear Propeller Shaft Bolt (1) - Tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

  41. Ensure that the drive shaft boot is completely seated in the output shaft groove prior to crimping the propeller shaft hub clamp (2).
  42. Using the DT-35910  Drive Axle Seal Clamp Pliers (1), crimp the propeller shaft hub clamp (2) until the final crimped outer diameter (a) is 39 - 41 mm (1.54 - 1.61 in).

    Floor Panel Number 2 Cross Bar Reinforcement (2) - Install

  44. Floor Panel Number 2 Cross Bar Reinforcement Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Exhaust Intermediate Underbody Heat Shield (2) - Install

  46. Exhaust Heat Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Catalytic Converter Gasket (2) - Install NEW

  48. With the aid of an assistant, install the exhaust system to the vehicle (1)
  49. {If equipped} Electrical Connector @ Exhaust Control Valve Actuator - Connect

    Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Rear Muffler Insulator-Right Side (3) - Install

  51. Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Intermediate Pipe Insulator-Right Side (2) - Install

    Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Rear Muffler Insulator-Left Side (3) - Install

    Catalytic Converter Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Floor Panel Number 4 Cross Bar Reinforcement (2) - Install

    Rear Wheelhouse Liner- Right Side (5) - Install

  58. Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Right Side (2) - Install and tighten [8x] - Fastener Specifications

    Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Right Side (5) - Install

  60. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Plastic Nut (3) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  61. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  62. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut (4) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Rear Tire Front Air Deflector- Right Side (2) - Install

  65. Rear Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Left Side (5) - Install

  67. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Plastic Nut (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  68. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt (3) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  69. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut (4) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  70. Rear Wheelhouse Liner Screw (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Rear Tire Front Air Deflector- Left Side (2) - Install

  72. Rear Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  73. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  74. Bleed the brake system. Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (JE5) , or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (J55) 
  75. Remove the drain pan.
  76. Check for brake system leaks.
  77. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  78. Refill the fuel tank.
  79. Inspect for fuel leaks.
  80. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
  81. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
