Removal Procedure

  1. Prepare the brake system control module for removal with Service Programming System (SPS) and follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection

    Using the appropriate trim tool, remove the windshield wiper arm finish caps (1) from both windshield wiper arms (3).

  4. Windshield Wiper Arm Nut (2) - Remove [2x]
  5. Grasp the outer ends of the windshield wiper arms (3) and gently rock both arms back and forth to remove the windshield wiper arms (3) from the windshield wiper transmission pivot shafts.

    Apply two layers of masking tape on the body around the top edges of the air inlet grille panel extensions (1) to prevent paint damage.

  7. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, carefully release the air inlet grille panel extension (1) clips.
  8. Remove the air inlet grille panel extensions (1) from the air inlet grille panel and both upper front fenders.

    Remove the hood rear outer air inlet seal retainers (1) from both sides.

  10. Remove the hood rear outer air inlet seals (2) from both sides.

    Remove the front compartment side sight shield retainers (1) from both sides.

  12. Remove the front compartment side sight shields (2) from both sides.

    Air Inlet Grille Panel Retainer (1) - Remove [6x]

  14. Air Inlet Grille Panel (2) - Remove
  15. Disconnect the windshield washer nozzle hose from the windshield washer pump hose.
  16. Lift the front edge of the air inlet grille panel (2) and slide the panel forward from both hood hinges and remove.

    Windshield Wiper System Module Shield (1) - Remove

    Disconnect the windshield wiper motor electrical connector.

  19. Windshield Wiper System Module Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
  20. Slide the windshield wiper system module (2) inboard to release the grommet from the plenum and remove the windshield wiper system module (2) from the vehicle.

    Air Inlet Deflector Water Deflector Retainer (1) - Remove [2x]

    Plenum Front Panel Nut (1) - Remove [3x]

  24. Plenum Front Panel Bolt (2) - Remove [3x]
  25. Pull the forward lamp wiring harness extension (3) out from the plenum front panel.

    Plenum Front Panel Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

  27. Plenum Front Panel Nut (2) - Remove [3x]
  28. Pull the forward lamp wiring harness extension (3) out from the plenum front panel.

    Plenum Front Panel (1) - Remove

    Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace Nut (1) - Remove

  31. Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace Bolt (3) - Remove [2x]
  32. Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace (2) - Remove

    Electrical Connector (1) @ Brake Fluid Level Sensor - Disconnect

    Electrical Connector (1) @ Brake System Control Module - Disconnect

    Rear Brake Pipe Nut (1) - Remove [2x]

  36. Front Brake Pipe Nut (2) - Remove [2x]
  37. Cap the 4 brake pipe inlets to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

    Disconnect the hood primary latch release cable end retainer from the hood primary latch release cable handle (1).

    Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Retainer (1) - Remove

  40. Instrument Panel Insulator Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
  41. Instrument Panel Insulator Nut (3) - Remove [2x]

    NOTE:

    Use a plastic trim tool if necessary.

    Release the tabs from the instrument panel lower trim panel insulator (1).

    Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator (1) - Remove

  44. Disconnect the front floor courtesy lamp electrical connector.

    Brake Master Cylinder Nut (1) - Remove [2x]

    Depress the brake pedal retainer (1) locking tabs.

  47. Pull the brake pedal (2) outwards to release it from the brake pedal retainer (1).
  48. Remove and DISCARD the brake pedal retainer (1).

    Brake Master Cylinder (1) - Remove

    Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Bolt (2) - Remove and DISCARD

  51. Lift the front of the brake master cylinder reservoir (1) upwards to clear the brake master cylinder reservoir grommets and release from the hold down clip.
