Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Warning .

WARNING:

Refer to SIR Warning .

  1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

    With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, start at the top to release the clip.

  3. Instrument Panel Radio Front Trim Plate (1) - Remove

    With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, start at the top to release the clip.

    Radio Control Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  7. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  8. Radio Control (2) - Remove

    Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  10. Instrument Panel Trim Plate (2) - Remove

    Heater and Air Conditioning Control Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  12. Heater and Air Conditioning User Interface Control (2) - Remove
  13. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Hazard Warning Switch Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  15. Pull the hazard warning switch (2) straight back to release.
  16. Hazard Warning Switch (2) - Remove
  17. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Instrument Panel Lower Airbag Nut (1) - Remove [2x]

  19. Instrument Panel Lower Airbag - Driver Side (2) - Remove
  20. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, start at the front and work your way back to release the clips.

  22. Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover - Left Side (1) - Remove

    Disconnect the hood primary latch release cable end retainer from the hood primary latch release cable handle (1).

    Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Retainer (1) - Remove

  25. Instrument Panel Insulator Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
  26. Instrument Panel Insulator Nut (3) - Remove [2x]

    NOTE:

    Use a plastic trim tool if necessary.

    Release the tabs from the instrument panel lower trim panel insulator (1).

    Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator (1) - Remove

  29. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Move the steering column up so you can access the lower left corner of the instrument panel center trim pad (1).

  31. Start with a flat - bladed plastic trim tool in the lower left corner of the instrument panel center trim pad (1) and work your way clockwise.
  32. Instrument Panel Center Trim Pad (1) - Remove
  33. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Data Link Connector Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  35. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bolt (2) - Remove [3x]

    Release the clips with a suitable tool.

  37. Disconnect and reposition harness as necessary.
  38. Clear the instrument panel knee bolster deflector studs when removing the instrument panel knee bolster (1).

    With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, start at the front and work your way back to release the clips.

  40. Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover - Right Side (1) - Remove
  41. {If equipped} Disconnect the electrical connector.

    NOTE:

    Prior to disconnecting the BCM, one or both front windows should be down to allow access into the vehicle once the door is closed.

    Body Control Module Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove

  43. Unlock and lower the body control module bracket (2).
  44. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  45. Close and lock the body control module bracket (2) into the instrument panel lower trim panel insulator.

    Instrument Panel Insulator Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

    NOTE:

    Use a plastic trim tool if necessary.

    Release the front edge of the front console extension panel from the instrument panel lower trim panel insulator (1).

  48. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator (1) - Remove
  49. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

    Instrument Panel Lower Airbag Nut (1) - Remove [2x]

  51. Instrument Panel Lower Airbag - Passenger Side (2) - Remove
  52. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Instrument Panel Compartment Bolt (1) - Remove [5x]

    Instrument Panel Compartment (1) - Remove

  55. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

    Using a flat - bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

  57. Instrument Panel Trim Pad (1) - Remove

    Reposition the seat as necessary to access the retaining clips.

  59. Using a flat - bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
  60. Front Floor Console Extension Panel - Left Side (1) - Remove

    Using a flat - bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

  62. Front Floor Console Extension Panel - Right Side (1) - Remove

    Front Floor Console Bolt (1) - Remove [6x]

  64. Front Floor Console Bracket Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
  65. Release the tabs (3) on both sides of the front floor console.

    Front Floor Console Variable 1 Liner (1) - Remove

  67. Use a plastic trim tool to release the transmission control lever boot (2) from the front floor console trim plate.
  68. Disconnect the electrical connector (3).

    Remove the automatic transmission control lever knob (1) by pulling up and releasing the retainer.

    Front Floor Console Trim Plate (1) - Remove

    Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Bolt (1) - Remove

  73. Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable (2) - Release
  74. Disconnect the front floor console wiring harness (3) from the body wiring harness.

    Slide the front floor console (1) enough to clear the instrument panel lower center trim panel.

    Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Bolt (1) - Remove [6x]

  77. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    78. NOTE:

    Use a plastic trim tool if necessary.

  78. Instrument Panel Lower Center Trim Panel (2) - Remove
  79. Transfer components as necessary.
