Removal Procedure
- Set the parking brake in Service Mode.
- Install a scan tool.
- Turn the ignition ON with engine OFF
- Select Electronic Brake Control Module.
- Select Control Functions.
- Select Rear Brake Caliper Piston Retract.
NOTE:Do NOT apply any brake pressure during this step.
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
Rear Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [4x]
- Rear Tire Front Air Deflector- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Left Side (1) - Remove
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (2) - Remove [3x]
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (3) - Remove [3x]
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (4) - Remove [2x]
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Left Side (5) - Remove
Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (2) - Remove [3x]
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (3) - Remove [3x]
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (4) - Remove [2x]
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Right Side (5) - Remove
Underbody Front Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove [6x]
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (2) - Remove [5x]
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Bracket Bolt- Right Side (3) - Remove [2x]
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (4) - Remove [2x]
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Right Side (5) - Remove
Underbody Front Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (1) - Remove [6x]
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (2) - Remove [5x]
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Bracket Bolt- Left Side (3) - Remove [2x]
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (4) - Remove [2x]
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Left Side (5) - Remove
Floor Panel Number 4 Cross Bar Reinforcement Bolt (1) - Remove [6x]
- Floor Panel Reinforcement (2) - Remove
Catalytic Converter Nut (1) - Remove [2x]
Exhaust Pipe Clamp (1) - Loosen [2x]
Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Intermediate Pipe Insulator-Left Side (2) - Separate [2x]
Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Intermediate Pipe Insulator-Right Side (2) - Separate [2x]
Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect
Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect
- NOTE:

Exhaust Muffler Hanger Bracket Nut (1) - Remove [4x]
With the aid of an assistant, remove the exhaust muffler (1).
- Catalytic Converter Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD
Exhaust Heat Shield Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
- Exhaust Intermediate Underbody Heat Shield (3) - Remove
Floor Panel Number 2 Cross Bar Reinforcement Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]
- Floor Panel Number 2 Cross Bar Reinforcement (2) - Remove
- NOTE:
Before removing the propeller shaft from the vehicle, paint or scribe references marks on the transmission flange to the propeller shaft and the rear differential drive flange to ensure minimal driveline system imbalance.
Mark (2) the relationship of the propeller shaft flange (3) and the output flange (1) of the transmission.
Mark (3) the relationship of the propeller shaft flange (1) and the rear axle pinion flange (2).
- NOTE:
Ensure that the propeller shaft is secured to the jack stand.
Support the propeller shaft with a suitable jack stand.
- Remove the 3 front propeller shaft bolts (2) and the 3 front propeller shaft nuts (1).
Remove the 3 rear propeller shaft bolts (1) and the 3 rear propeller shaft nuts (2).
Remove the 2 propeller shaft bearing support bolts (1).
- CAUTION:
Care should be taken not to use sharp or pry tools when separating the propeller shaft coupler from the drive flange. Damage to the coupler could result and replacement of the entire propeller shaft would be required.
NOTE:It may be necessary to apply a small amount of penetrating lubricant or WD-40® to the area shown (1) to aid in separation of the propeller shaft coupling.
If the propeller shaft does not easily separate from the differential or transmission, use a rubber mallet to gently tap the locations (1) on the rubber coupling shown above to separate.
Remove the propeller shaft (1) from the vehicle.
- Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Clip (1) - Remove [2x]
- Retaining Clip (3) - Disengage
- Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Outlet Pipe (2) @ Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe - Remove
Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Clip (1) - Remove [2x]
- Retaining Clip (3) - Disengage
- Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Inlet Pipe (2) @ Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe - Remove
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- NOTE:

Disconnect the left and right side parking brake actuator electrical connector.
- Parking Brake Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [4x]
- Parking Brake Caliper- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
- NOTE:

- Do NOT disconnect the hydraulic brake flexible hose from the caliper.
CAUTION:Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.
Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [4x]
- Rear Brake Caliper- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]
- Position the left and right rear brake calipers (1) out of the way support and with heavy mechanics wire.
- NOTE:
Left side shown, right side similar.
Remove the 8 rear spring pins (1) from the left and right side rear suspension lower control arms.
- Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Cover- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
- NOTE:
Left side shown, right side similar.
Place a jack under the left and right rear suspension lower control arms.
- Rear Shock Absorber Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) @ Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm (3) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
- Mark rear coil springs for proper installation.

Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Outer Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]
- Using the jack stand, raise the rear lower control arms enough to aid in the removal of the of the rear suspension lower control arm outer bolts.
- Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Outer Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (3) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]

Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Inner Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Loosen [2x]
- NOTE:
- Left side shown, right side similar.
- Observe the orientation of rear coil spring (1) as it will be dislodged upon removal of the rear suspension lower control arm.
Slowly raise the vehicle to release tension on the rear coil spring (1) and swing the rear suspension lower control arm (2) far enough to gain access to the rear coil spring (1) for removal.

Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Inner Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]
- Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Inner Washer- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
- Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Inner Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (3) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
- NOTE:

Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]
Using a suitable jack stand (1), support the rear differential carrier.
Position a block of wood (1) and a suitable jack stand (2) between the frame of the vehicle and the rear suspension bracket on the left side.
- NOTE:
DO NOT raise the vehicle higher than necessary.
Using the block of wood and a suitable jack stand (1), raise the vehicle just enough to reposition the hoist pad (2) from under the vehicle.
Rear Suspension Bracket Bolt- Left Side (1) - Remove
- Rear Suspension Bracket Bolt- Left Side (4) - Remove
- Rear Suspension Cradle Front Bolt- Left Side (3) - Remove
- Rear Suspension Bracket- Front- Left Side (2) - Remove
DO NOT ATTEMPT OTHER REPAIRS WITH JACK STANDS IN PLACE.
Reinstall the left side rear suspension cradle front bolt (1).
- Position the hoist pad back onto body flange between the rear suspension bracket fastener holes, lower the vehicle onto the hoist and remove the jack stand.
- NOTE:
Left side shown, right side similar.
Position the block of wood (1) and the suitable jack stand (2) between the frame of the vehicle and the rear suspension bracket on the right side.
- NOTE:
- Left side shown, right side similar.
- DO NOT raise the vehicle higher than necessary.
Using the block of wood and a suitable jack stand (1), raise the vehicle just enough to reposition the hoist pad (2) from under the vehicle.

Rear Suspension Bracket Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove\
- Rear Suspension Bracket Bolt- Right Side (4) - Remove
- Rear Suspension Cradle Front Bolt- Right Side (3) - Remove
- Rear Suspension Bracket- Front- Right Side (2) - Remove
DO NOT ATTEMPT OTHER REPAIRS WITH JACK STANDS IN PLACE.
Reinstall the right side rear suspension cradle front bolt (1).
- Position the hoist pad back onto body flange between the rear suspension bracket fastener holes, lower the vehicle onto the hoist and remove the jack stand.
Remove the jack stand (1), from the rear differential carrier.
- NOTE:

Rear Suspension Bracket Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [4x]
- Rear Suspension Bracket- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
- NOTE:
Some components not shown for graphic clarity.
Disconnect the 2 body wiring harness electrical connectors (1) from the chassis wiring harness electrical connectors.
Remove the chassis wiring harness channel (2) from the 2 body studs.
- Remove the chassis wiring harness retainer (1) from the underbody air front deflector stud.
- Position a lift table under rear suspension cradle.
Remove the 2 rear suspension cradle front bolts (1) on the left and right side.
Rear Suspension Cradle Rear Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
- NOTE:
Remove the cradle with the suspension links and components attached as shown.
