Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    Ensure that the rear suspension cradle is securely attached to the jack/support stand.

    Rear Suspension Cradle (1) - Install

    Install the 2 CH-51034 - A  Cradle Alignment Pins (1) to align the rear cradle to the body.

    Rear Suspension Cradle Rear Bolt (1) - Install NEW and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Temporarily install the 2 OLD rear cradle front bolts.

  5. Remove the 2 CH-51034 - A  Cradle Alignment Pins (1) from the rear cradle.
  6. Remove the lift table from under the rear suspension cradle.

    Rear Suspension Bracket- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]

  8. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Install the chassis wiring harness retainer (1) to the underbody air front deflector stud.

  11. Install the chassis wiring harness channel (2) to the 2 body studs.

    Connect the 2 body wiring harness electrical connectors (1) to the chassis wiring harness electrical connectors.

    Place the jack stand (1) under the rear differential carrier for support.

    NOTE:

    Position the block of wood (1) and the suitable jack stand (2) between the frame of the vehicle and the rear suspension bracket on the right side.

    • DO NOT raise the vehicle higher than necessary.

    Using the block of wood and the suitable jack stand (1), raise the vehicle just enough to reposition the hoist pad (2) from under the vehicle.

    Reposition the hoist lift pad (2) back underneath the right side of the vehicle.

  23. Using the jack stand (1) and the block of wood, slowly lower the vehicle back on the hoist pad (2).

    Position the block of wood (1) and the suitable jack stand (2) between the frame of the vehicle and the rear suspension bracket on the left side.

    Reposition the hoist lift pad (2) back underneath the vehicle.

  34. Using the jack stand (1) and the block of wood, slowly lower the vehicle back on the hoist pad (2).

  40. NOTE:

    The final torque on the rear suspension lower control arm inner nut (1) is to be applied during the rear camber setting procedure.

    • Correctly orient the rear coil spring as noted upon removal of the rear suspension lower control arm.

    Rear Coil Spring- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install [2x]

  43. Support the rear suspension lower control arms (2) with an appropriate jack stands.
  44. Slowly lower the vehicle to apply tension on the rear coil springs (1) and rotate the rear suspension lower control arms (2) and align the rear suspension lower control arms (2) with the rear suspension knuckles.

    Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Outer Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (3) - Install NEW [2x]

  46. Using the jack stands, raise the rear lower control arms enough to aid in the installation of the of the rear suspension lower control arm outer bolts.

  50. Remove the jack stands from beneath the rear suspension lower control arms.

  54. If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:
    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.
    4. Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

    Position the propeller shaft (1) in the vehicle.

    Align the reference mark (3) between the propeller shaft flange (1) and the rear axle pinion flange (2).

    If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.

  69. Install the 3 rear propeller shaft nuts (2) and 3 the rear propeller shaft bolts (1).

    Align the reference mark (2) between the propeller shaft flange (3) and the output flange (1) of the transmission.

  73. Install the 3 front propeller shaft nuts (1) and the 3 front propeller shaft bolts (2).

    Floor Panel Number 2 Cross Bar Reinforcement (2) - Install

    Rear Tire Front Air Deflector- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]

  112. Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  113. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  114. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  115. With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
  116. Slowly release the brake pedal.
  117. Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 110 - 111 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
  118. Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir to the maximum-full level with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling
  119. Calibrate the park brake.
    1. Block the drive wheels.
    2. Install a scan tool to the vehicle.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position with the engine OFF.
    4. Select Configuration/Reset Functions from the Brake System Control Module.
    5. If available, perform the Parking Brake Calibration Procedure.
    6. If Park Brake Calibration is not available, proceed back and select Control Functions.
    7. Perform the Deactivate Rear Park Brake Service Position function.
    8. Apply and release the park brakes using the park brake switch to ensure that the system is functioning.
  120. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
  121. Perform wheel alignment. Wheel Alignment Measurement
