Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  2. Remove the oil fill cap.
  3. GM5335087

    Lift up on the front of the intake manifold cover (1).

    Intake Manifold Cover (1) @ Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (2) - Remove

  5. GM5431234

    Disconnect the evaporative emission canister purge tube quick disconnects (1). Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

  6. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister purge tube (2) from the retainer (3).
  7. GM5562846

    Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors from the camshaft position actuator solenoids.

  8. Retainer (1) @ Timing Chain Upper Cover (2) - Unclip [6x]
  9. Engine Wiring Harness (3) - Reposition

    Camshaft Position Actuator Valve Solenoid Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  11. Camshaft Position Actuator Valve Solenoid (2) - Remove
  12. Camshaft Position Actuator Magnet Gasket (3) - Remove and DISCARD

    Camshaft Position Actuator Valve Solenoid Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  14. Camshaft Position Actuator Valve Solenoid (2) - Remove
  15. Camshaft Position Actuator Magnet Gasket (3) - Remove and DISCARD
  16. GM4997059

    Timing Chain Upper Cover Bolt-M6 (3) - Remove

  17. Timing Chain Upper Cover Bolt-M5 (2) - Remove [11x]
  18. GM4997066

    Timing Chain Upper Cover (2) - Remove

  19. Timing Belt Front Upper Cover Seal (1) - Remove and DISCARD
