Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Clean all sealing surfaces.
  2. Spray Low LOC brake cleaner on the LCE sealing surface and wipe off with a clean shop towel. Avoided touching the surface after cleaning and air dry with shop air.
  3. Wipe the positive crankcase oil separator cover sealing surface with the Adhesion Plastic Pan Primer Promoter Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers with a clean shop towel. Allow the cleaner to flash / evaporate. Wipe off the sealing surfaces with a lint free cloth. Do not touch the sealing surface after cleaning to avoid inducing containment debris to the bonding surface area.
  4. Ensure proper use of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. Use of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) and Anaerobic Sealant

    NOTE:
    • The positive crankcase oil separator cover sealing surface must be free of contamination prior to applying the sealer.
    • Install and align the positive crankcase oil separator cover to engine block within 10 minutes of applying the sealer.
    • The positive crankcase oil separator cover must be fastened to final torque specification within 15 minutes of applying the sealer.

    Apply approximately a 4 mm (0.16 in) thick bead of sealant (1) to the positive crankcase oil separator cover. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

    Positive Crankcase Ventilation Oil Separator Cover (1) - Install

  7. Check that the pin of the positive crankcase ventilation oil separator cover sits correct in the right hole.

    Positive Crankcase Ventilation Oil Separator Cover Bolt (1) - Install [11x] - Fastener Specifications

  9. Connect all wiring harness retainers.

    Starter (3) - Install

  11. Starter Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  12. Starter Stud (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Auxiliary Generator Battery Jumper Cable (2) - Install

  14. Battery Positive Cable Nut (1) @ Starter Solenoid - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  15. Raise the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

    Electrical Connector (1) - Connect

    Auxiliary Generator Battery Jumper Cable (3) - Install

  18. Battery Negative Cable Nut (1) @ Starter Stud - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  19. Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (2) - Engage [2x]
  20. Lower the vehicle.

    Install the generator (1) with the lower generator mounting bolt (2).

    Generator Bolt (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Auxiliary Generator Battery Jumper Cable (2) - Install

  25. Battery Positive Cable Nut (1) @ Generator - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Electrical Connector (2) @ Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor - Connect

  33. Electrical Connector (1) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Connect [2x]

    Engine Oil Cooler Coolant Inlet Hose (4) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install

  35. Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose (3) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install
  36. Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose (2) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install
  37. Hose Clamp (1) - Engage [3x] - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type

    Radiator Inlet Hose (3) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install

  39. Thermostat Bypass Hose (2) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install
  40. Hose Clamp (1) - Engage [2x] - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type

    Intake Manifold Gasket (2) - Install NEW

    Check that the 2 pins (4) of the intake manifold are seated correctly in the cylinder head.

    Intake Manifold (3) - Install

  43. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube (2) @ Intake Manifold (3) - Install
  44. Connect throttle body electrical connector (1)

    Intake Manifold Bolt (1) - Install and tighten in sequence [7x] - Fastener Specifications

    Electrical Connector (1) @ Intake Air Pressure and Temperature Sensor - Connect

    Retainer Spring (1) - Engage

    Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Pipe Bracket (2) - Reposition [2x]

  49. Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Hose Clip Bracket Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Reposition the wiring harness (3) and connect as necessary.

    Drive Belt Tensioner (2) - Install

  53. Drive Belt Tensioner Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Use a suitable tool to rotate the drive belt tensioner (1) counterclockwise and hold.

    Accessory Drive Primary Belt (1) - Install

  56. Slowly release tension on the drive belt tensioner.

    Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Pump (2) - Install

  58. Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Pump Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

    Evaporative Emission Pipe (1) @ Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Pump (2) - Connect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

  60. Connect the electrical connector.

    Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube (1) - Install

  62. Connect the evaporative emission canister purge tube (2) to the retainer (3). Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

    Oil Level Indicator Tube Bracket Bolt (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

  66. Electrical Connector (1) @ Oil Level Indicator Tube (3) - Clip

    Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (2) - Install

  69. Upper Intake Manifold Cover Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Upper Intake Manifold Cover Bracket Bolt (1) @ Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Wiring Harness (4) - Reposition

  72. Retainer (2) @ Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (3) - Install
  73. Electrical Connector (1) - Connect [3x]
  74. Ensure any remaining retainers are connected securely.

    Intake Manifold Cover (1) @ Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (2) - Install

    NOTE:

    Ensure the engine sight shield retainers fully engage the intake manifold cover studs.

    Push down on the front of the intake manifold cover (1) engaging the intake manifold cover retainers to the intake manifold cover studs.

  77. Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (RWD) , or Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (AWD) 
  78. Install the oil fill cap.
  79. Connect the battery. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  80. Fill the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY with V03 Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY with V03 GE 47716) , or
  81. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  82. Perform the throttle body idle air flow compensation reset. Throttle Body Idle Air Flow Compensation Reset
