Installation Procedure

  1. GM5443209

    Oil Pump Suction Pipe Gasket (3) - Install NEW

  2. Oil Pump Screen (2) - Install
  3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution

  4. Oil Pump Screen Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  5. Clean all sealing surfaces.
  6. Spray Low LOC brake cleaner on the LCE sealing surface and wipe off with a clean shop towel. Avoided touching the surface after cleaning and air dry with shop air.
  7. Wipe the oil pan surface with the Adhesion Plastic Pan Primer Promoter with a clean shop towel. Allow the cleaner to flash / evaporate. Wipe off the sealing surfaces with a lint free cloth. Do not touch the sealing surface after cleaning to avoid inducing containment debris to the bonding surface area. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

    NOTE:

    Ensure proper use of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. Use of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) and Anaerobic Sealant

    Apply approximately a 4 mm (0.16 in) thick bead of sealant (1) to the lower oil pan. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

    NOTE:
    • The engine block lower structural extension surface must be free of contamination prior to applying the sealer.
    • Install and align the oil pan to the block within 10 minutes after applying the sealer.
    • The oil pan must be fastened to final torque specification within 15 minutes after applying the sealer.

    Install the EN-52483  Guide Pins (1) in two locations to keep oil pan square.

  10. Lower Oil Pan (2) - Install
  11. Lower Oil Pan Bolt (3) - Install and tighten in sequence [18x] - Fastener Specifications
  12. Remove the EN-52483  Guide Pins (1).
  13. Install wiring harness retainer.
  14. Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (RWD) , or Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (AWD) 
  15. Perform the engine oil life reset. GM Oil Life System Resetting (With Scan Tool) , or GM Oil Life System Resetting (Without Scan Tool)
