Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Refer to SIR Warning .

CAUTION:

If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.

CAUTION:

Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.

  1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

    Pull the windshield garnish molding (1) rearwards to release the tether from the A pillar.

  3. Access the windshield garnish bolt (2) which is located on the backside of the windshield garnish molding (1) and secures the tether to the A pillar.
  4. Windshield Garnish Molding Bolt (2) - Remove
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  6. Windshield Garnish Molding (1) - Remove

    Sunshade Retainer Bolt Cover (1) - Remove

  8. Sunshade Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
  9. Squeeze the tabs at the base of the sunshade to detach it from the roof panel and allow the headliner with the sunshade attached to be lowered.

    CAUTION:

    Do not exert downward force at the forward or rearward edge of the roof console assembly as irreversible damage will occur.

    With a flat-bladed trim tool, release the tab on the left side at the most rearward of the roof console (1) and pull down on console, then release the retaining clip in the middle of the console and pull down, then release the retaining clip at the most forward of the console and pull down the console.

  11. With a flat-bladed trim tool, release the tab on the right side at the most rearward of the roof console (1) and pull down on console, then release the retaining clip in the middle of the console and pull down, then release the retaining clip at the most forward of the console and pull down the console.

    Pull the roof console (1) rearward to remove the front roof console tab from the headliner.

  13. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

    Windshield Multifunction Sensor Mount Bracket Cover Insert (1) - Remove

    Using a suitable plastic trim tool, carefully pry downward on the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) to release it from the windshield.

  16. Pull downward to remove the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) from the windshield.

    Fold the assist handle downward and hold. (2)

  18. Use a small flat-bladed tool to open the assist handle covers to access the bolts.
  19. Roof Rail Assist Handle Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

    CAUTION:

    Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.

    Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Bolt Cap (1) - Remove

    Pull the trim panel toward the inside of the vehicle to disengage the retainers on both sides of the vehicle.

    Unclip the sunshade and rotate the sunshade to the side.

  25. Open the sunshade support bolt access cover with an appropriate tool.
  26. Sunshade Support Bolt (1) - Remove
  27. Using the appropriate tool, release the metal sunshade support retainer.
  28. Sunshade Support (2) - Remove
