Installation Procedure

    CAUTION:

    After removing the oil pump flow control valve, ensure the entire valve has been removed and there is no debris left in the oil pump bore. Failure to ensure the oil pump bore is free from debris may result in engine damage.

  1. Clean all sealing surfaces.

    Oil Pump Flow Control Solenoid Valve (2) - Install

  3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Oil Pump Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  5. Electrical Connector @ Oil Pump Flow Control Solenoid Valve - Connect
  6. GM5443209

    Clean all sealing surfaces.

  7. Oil Pump Suction Pipe Gasket (3) - Install NEW
  8. Oil Pump Screen (2) - Install
  9. Oil Pump Screen Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  10. Clean all sealing surfaces.
  11. Spray Low LOC brake cleaner on the lower crankcase extension sealing surface and wipe off with a clean shop towel. Avoided touching the surface after cleaning and air dry with shop air.
  12. Wipe the oil pan surface with the Adhesion Plastic Pan Primer Promoter with a clean shop towel. Allow the cleaner to flash / evaporate. Wipe off the sealing surfaces with a lint free cloth. Do not touch the sealing surface after cleaning to avoid inducing containment debris to the bonding surface area. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
  13. Ensure proper use of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. Use of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) and Anaerobic Sealant

    Apply approximately a 4 mm (0.16 in) thick bead of sealant (1) to the lower oil pan. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

  15. Install EN-52483  Guide Pin in two locations to keep oil pan square.

    NOTE:
    • The engine block lower structural extension surface must be free of contamination prior to applying the sealer.
    • Install and align the oil pan to the block within 10 minutes after applying the sealer.
    • The oil pan must be fastened to final torque specification within 15 minutes after applying the sealer.

    Install EN-52483  Guide Pin (1) in two locations to keep oil pan square.

  17. Lower Oil Pan (2) - Install
  18. Lower Oil Pan Bolt (3) - Install and tighten in sequence [18x] - Fastener Specifications
  19. Install wiring harness retainer.
  20. Lower the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  21. Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (RWD) , or Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (AWD)
  22. Install the oil fill cap.
  23. Perform the engine oil life reset. GM Oil Life System Resetting (With Scan Tool) , or GM Oil Life System Resetting (Without Scan Tool)
