Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LF4 Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LF4 GE 47716) 
  2. Oil Filler Cap - Remove

    Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) - Remove

  4. Intake Manifold Cover (2) - Remove
  5. Install the oil filler cap after removal of the intake manifold cover to prevent debris from falling into the engine.

    CAUTION:

    The Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) line is tamper resistant and must always be replaced once it is removed. The fittings connected to the PCV line must also be replaced if they are damaged when the PCV line is removed. To reduce the risk of damage to the fittings, use a suitable cutting tool and carefully cut the connections away.

    Using a suitable cutting tool, carefully cut the 2 positive crankcase ventilation tube connectors (1).

  7. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Fresh Air Tube (2) - Remove and DISCARD

    Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Tank Solenoid Valve Tube (1) - Disconnect and reposition - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

  9. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (2) - Loosen

    Charge Air Bypass Valve Hose Clamp (1) - Loosen

  11. Charge Air Bypass Valve Hose (2) - Reposition
  12. Retainer Spring (3) - Disengage

    Auxiliary Air Cleaner Outlet Duct (1) - Remove

    Retaining Clip (1) - Remove

    Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Bolt (1) - Remove

  16. Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
  17. Turbocharger Coolant Return Pipe (3) - Remove

    Positive Assurance Cap (1) - Reposition

  19. Using a suitable tool, remove the turbocharger oil feed pipe fitting clip (2).

    Turbocharger Heat Shield Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  21. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

    Rear Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [4x]

  23. Rear Tire Front Air Deflector- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]

    Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Left Side (1) - Remove

  25. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (2) - Remove [3x]
  26. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (3) - Remove [3x]
  27. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (4) - Remove [2x]
  28. Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Left Side (5) - Remove

    Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove

  30. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (2) - Remove [3x]
  31. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (3) - Remove [3x]
  32. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (4) - Remove [2x]
  33. Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Right Side (5) - Remove

    Floor Panel Number 4 Cross Bar Reinforcement Bolt (1) - Remove [6x]

  35. Floor Panel Reinforcement (2) - Remove

    Catalytic Converter Nut (1) - Remove [2x]

    Exhaust Pipe Clamp (1) - Loosen [2x]

    Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Intermediate Pipe Insulator-Left Side (2) - Separate [2x]

    Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Intermediate Pipe Insulator-Right Side (2) - Separate [2x]

    Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect

    Exhaust Muffler Hanger Bracket Nut (1) - Remove [4x]

    With the aid of an assistant, remove the exhaust muffler (1).

  44. Catalytic Converter Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD

    Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Nut (1) - Remove [5x]

  46. Catalytic Converter Brace (2) - Remove
  47. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.[2x]

    Catalytic Converter Nut (1) - Remove [4x]

    Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter (1) - Remove

  50. Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD

    Turbocharger Heat Shield Bolt (1) - Remove

    Turbocharger Heat Shield (1) - Remove

  54. Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Washer (2) - Remove and DISCARD
  55. Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe (3) - Remove

  67. Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Gasket (3) @ Engine Block - Remove and DISCARD
