Installation Procedure

    Engine Oil Cooler Adapter (1) - Install

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Engine Oil Cooler Adapter Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

  3. GM5876024

    Engine Oil Cooler Pipe (2) @ Oil Filter Adapter - Install

  4. Retaining Clip (1) - Install
  5. GM5876070

    Engine Oil Cooler Pipe (2) @ Engine Oil Cooler Adapter - Install

  6. Retaining Clip (1) - Install
  7. GM5875991

    Radiator Outlet Hose (4) @ Engine Oil Cooler Adapter - Install

  8. Radiator Outlet Hose Clamp (3) @ Engine Oil Cooler Adapter - Engage - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type 
  9. Turbocharger Coolant Feed Lower Hose (2) @ Engine Oil Cooler Adapter - Install
  10. Turbocharger Coolant Feed Hose Clamp (1) @ Engine Oil Cooler Adapter - Engage - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type

    Electric Belt Drive Rack and Pinion Steering Gear (3) - Install

  12. CAUTION:

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

  13. Steering Gear Bolt (2) - Install NEW [2x]
  14. Steering Gear Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Connect the electrical connectors (1).

  16. Secure the engine wiring harness to the electric belt drive rack and pinion steering gear using a tie strap.

    Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @ Electric Belt Drive Rack and Pinion Steering Gear - Install

  18. If a NEW threaded component is being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded component is reused, prepare the threaded component using the following steps:
    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  19. Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (1) @ Electric Belt Drive Rack and Pinion Steering Gear - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    CAUTION:

    Ensure the Outer Tie Rod Boot is not twisted or deformed during assembly. If the boot is twisted or deformed, damage to the boot will occur.

    NOTE:

    Left side shown, right side similar.

    Install left and right steering linkage outer tie rods (1) at the left and right steering knuckles.

    Install and tighten the left and right steering linkage outer tie rod nuts (1). Fastener Specifications

  22. GM5877068

    Install the front cradle sheer plate (2) between the front bumper fascia center air deflector and the driveline and front suspension cradle and raise into position.

  23. Ensure that the left and right side wheelhouse liners (1) are positioned in place under the front cradle sheer plate (2).
  24. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Front Crossmember Brace Bolt (3) - Install and tighten [8x] - Fastener Specifications

  26. Front Cradle Shear Plate Nut (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  27. Front Cradle Shear Plate Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
  28. Remove the jack.

    Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Retainer (2) - Install

  30. Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Front Compartment Air Deflector- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install

    Front Bumper Fascia Lower Stiffener Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (3) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications

  33. Front Compartment Air Deflector Retainer- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]
  34. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Front Brake Rotor Cooling Duct Deflector (1)- Left Side and Right Side - Install

  36. Front Brake Rotor Cooling Duct Deflector Bolt (2)- Left Side and Right Side - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications

    Install the 4 chassis harness retainers (1) on the left and right side.

  38. Program the power steering control module. Control Module References
  39. Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  40. Lower the vehicle.
  41. Measure and adjust the front toe. Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment
  42. Perform the following so the vehicle software relearns the steering center position:
    1. Raise the front wheels off the ground.
    2. Start the vehicle.
    3. Rotate steering wheel to the left lock position and hold tightly for 4 seconds.
    4. Rotate steering wheel to the right lock position and hold tightly for 4 seconds.
    5. Repeat steps 41.3 and 41.4.
    6. Lower the vehicle.
