Draining Procedure (Engine Auxiliary Radiators)

NOTE:

The following procedure is only necessary when servicing the engine auxiliary radiators or when a complete system drain and fill is required.

  1. Perform the engine radiator draining procedure as outlined above.
  2. Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

    NOTE:
    • Quantity of fasteners may vary based on option content.
    • Left side shown, right side similar.

    Remove the 4 left and 4 right front tire front air deflector bolts (1).

  4. Remove the left and right front tire front air deflectors (2).

    Remove the 2 left and 2 right front bumper fascia bolts (2).

    • Quantity of fasteners may vary based on option content.
    • Left side shown, right side similar.

    Remove the 2 left and 2 right engine front splash shield retainers (2).

  7. Remove the 5 left and 5 right engine front splash shield bolts (1).
  8. Remove the left and right engine front splash shields (3).

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Left Side (1) - Remove [6x]

  10. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer- Left Side (2) - Remove
  11. Front Wheelhouse Liner- Left Side (3) - Reposition

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Left Side (1) - Remove [3x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Rear Duct- Left Side (1) - Remove

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove [6x]

  15. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer- Right Side (2) - Remove
  16. Front Wheelhouse Liner- Right Side (3) - Reposition

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Right Side (1) - Remove [3x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Rear Duct- Right Side (1) - Remove

  19. Remove the front bumper fascia. Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (without Blackwing) , or Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (with Blackwing) , or Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (with Blackwing CFV, CFZ)

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Left Side (1) - Remove [3x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Left Side (1) - Remove [2x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Front Duct- Left Side (1) - Remove

    Using an appropriate tool, remove the retainer clip (1) from the radiator inlet hose connector.

  24. Radiator Inlet Hose (2) @ Engine Auxiliary Radiator- Left Side - Remove

    Radiator Outlet Hose Clip (3) - Remove

  26. Using an appropriate tool, remove the radiator outlet hose retainer (1) from the radiator outlet hose connector.
  27. Auxiliary Radiator Outlet Pipe (2) @ Engine Auxiliary Radiator- Left Side - Remove

    Charge Air Cooler Upper Bracket Nut (1) - Loosen

  29. Charge Air Cooler Bracket Bolt (2) - Remove [3x]

    Remove the left engine auxiliary radiator assembly (1) from the vehicle.

  31. Invert the engine auxiliary radiator assembly (1) pouring the contents into a drain pan.

    Install the left engine auxiliary radiator assembly (1) to the vehicle.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution

    Charge Air Cooler Bracket Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

  34. Charge Air Cooler Upper Bracket Nut (1) - Tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Install the radiator outlet hose retainer (1) into the radiator outlet hose connector.

  36. Install the auxiliary radiator outlet pipe (2) to the left engine auxiliary radiator ensuring that the radiator outlet hose retainer (1) is fully engaged.
  37. Radiator Outlet Hose Clip (3) - Install

    Install the retainer clip (1) into the radiator inlet hose connector.

  39. Install the radiator inlet hose (2) to the left engine auxiliary radiator ensuring that the retainer clip (1) is fully engaged.

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Right Side (1) - Remove [3x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Front Duct- Right Side (1) - Remove

    Using an appropriate tool, disengage the radiator inlet hose retainer (1).

  44. Auxiliary Radiator Inlet Hose @ Engine Auxiliary Radiator- Right Side (2) - Remove

    Radiator Outlet Hose Clip (3) - Remove

  46. Using an appropriate tool, disengage the radiator outlet hose retainer (2).
  47. Radiator Outlet Hose (1) @ Engine Auxiliary Radiator- Right Side - Remove

    Charge Air Cooler Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  49. Charge Air Cooler Upper Bracket Nut (2) - Loosen

    Remove the right engine auxiliary radiator assembly (1) from the vehicle.

  51. Invert the right engine auxiliary radiator assembly (1) pouring the contents into a drain pan.

    Install the right engine auxiliary radiator assembly (1) to the vehicle.

    Charge Air Cooler Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

  54. Charge Air Cooler Upper Bracket Nut (2) - Tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Install the radiator outlet hose retainer (2) into the radiator outlet hose connector.

  56. Install the radiator outlet hose (1) to the right engine auxiliary radiator ensuring that the radiator outlet hose retainer (3) is fully engaged.
  57. Radiator Outlet Hose Clip (3) - Install

    Install the radiator inlet hose retainer (1) into the radiator inlet hose connector.

  59. Install the auxiliary radiator inlet hose (2) to the right engine auxiliary radiator ensuring that the radiator inlet hose retainer (1) is fully engaged.

    Auxiliary Radiator Front Duct- Right Side (1) - Install

  63. Install the front bumper fascia. Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (without Blackwing) , or Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (with Blackwing) , or Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (with Blackwing CFV, CFZ)

    Auxiliary Radiator Rear Duct- Right Side (1) - Install

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer (1) - Install [3x]

    Front Wheelhouse Liner- Right Side (3) - Move into position

  67. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer- Right Side (2) - Install
  68. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications

    Front Wheelhouse Liner- Left Side (3) - Move into position

  70. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer- Left Side (2) - Install
  71. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Left Side (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications

    Install and tighten the 2 left and 2 right front bumper bolts (2). Fastener Specifications

    • Quantity of fasteners may vary based on option content.

    Install the left and right engine front splash shields (3).

  74. Install the 2 left and 2 right engine front splash shield retainers (2).
  75. Install and tighten the 5 left and 5 right engine front splash shield bolts (1). Fastener Specifications

    Install the left and right front tire front air deflectors (2).

  77. Install and tighten the 4 left and 4 right front tire front air deflector bolts. Fastener Specifications
  78. Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  79. Continue with the static fill and air removal procedure below.
