Draining Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the A/C compressor from the vehicle. Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LSY) , or Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (L3B) , or Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LF4)
  2. Record the amount of oil removed from the refrigerant system during refrigerant recovery. This measurement will be used during installation of the replacement compressor.
  3. Drain as much refrigerant oil as possible from both the suction and discharge ports of the removed compressor into a clean, graduated container.
  4. Measure and record the amount of oil drained from the removed compressor. This measurement will be used during installation of the replacement compressor.
  5. NOTE:

During the oil removal procedure, the condition of the oil should be evaluated. Compressor oil never breaks down unless something is wrong with the compressor or air conditioning (A/C) system. If one or more of the following conditions exist, replace the compressor and receiver dehydrator.

  6. Inspect oil drained from the removed compressor. Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Diagnosis
  7. Properly discard the used refrigerant oil.
