Removal Procedure
Refer to SIR Warning .
If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.
Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.
- Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling
Pull the windshield garnish molding (1) rearwards to release the tether from the A pillar on both sides of the vehicle.
- Access the windshield garnish bolts (2) which is located on the backside of the windshield garnish moldings (1) and secures the tether to the A pillar on both sides of the vehicle.
- Windshield Garnish Molding Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Windshield Garnish Molding (1) - Remove [2x]
Open the sunshade support bolt access cover with an appropriate tool on both sides of the vehicle.
- Sunshade Support Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
- Using the appropriate tool, release the metal sunshade support retainer on both sides of the vehicle.
- Sunshade Support (2) - Remove [2x]
- CAUTION:
Do not exert downward force at the forward or rearward edge of the roof console assembly as irreversible damage will occur.
With a flat-bladed trim tool, release the tab on the left side at the most rearward of the roof console (1) and pull down on console, then release the retaining clip in the middle of the console and pull down, then release the retaining clip at the most forward of the console and pull down the console.
- With a flat-bladed trim tool, release the tab on the right side at the most rearward of the roof console (1) and pull down on console, then release the retaining clip in the middle of the console and pull down, then release the retaining clip at the most forward of the console and pull down the console.
Pull the roof console (1) rearward to remove the front roof console tab from the headliner.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
Windshield Multifunction Sensor Mount Bracket Cover Insert (1) - Remove
Using a suitable plastic trim tool, carefully pry downward on the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) to release it from the windshield.
- Pull downward to remove the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) from the windshield.
Fold the assist handle downward and hold. (2)
- Use a small flat-bladed tool to open the assist handle covers to access the bolts.
- Roof Rail Assist Handle Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]
- Roof Rail Assist Handle (2) - Remove [2x]
Fold the assist handle downward and hold. (2)
- Use a small flat-bladed tool to open the assist handle covers to access the bolts.
- Roof Rail Rear Assist Handle Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]
- Roof Rail Rear Assist Handle (2) - Remove [2x]
- CAUTION:

Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Bolt Cap (1) - Remove [2x]
- Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
Pull the trim panel toward the inside of the vehicle to disengage the retainers on both sides of the vehicle.
- Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) - Reposition [2x]
Sunshade Retainer Bolt Cover (1) - Remove [2x]
- Sunshade Bolt (2) - Remove [4x]
- Squeeze the tabs at the base of the sunshade to detach it from the roof panel and allow the headliner with the sunshade attached to be lowered on both sides of the vehicle.
- Release the retainer attaching the sunshade to the headlining trim panel on both sides of the vehicle.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Sunshade (3) - Remove [2x]
Insert a suitable flat-bladed plastic trim tool between the parameter of the high mount stop lamp opening cover (1) and headlining trim panel (2).
- Separate the high mount stop lamp opening cover (1) from the headlining trim panel (2).
Pull downward to release the retaining tabs.
- High Mount Stop Lamp Opening Cover (1) - Remove
Rear Seat Cushion (1) - Remove - Rear Seat Cushion Removal and Installation
Fold the rear seat back to the downward position.
- Access the rear seat back bolster retainer lock (1) through a slot in the upper portion of the bolster.
- Slide the rear seat back bolster retainer lock (1) toward the front of the vehicle.
Rear Seat Back Bolster Nut (1) - Remove [2x]
- Squeeze the rear seat back bolster retainer to release it on both sides of the vehicle.
- Rear Seat Back Bolster (2) - Remove [2x]
Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool to remove the quarter window trim finish panel bolt cap (1) on both sides.
- Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
- Disengage the retainers, starting at the front and working rearward.
- Quarter Upper Trim Panel (3) - Remove [2x]
- NOTE:
Use a flat-bladed plastic trim tool to aid in removal of the rear window panel retainers (1) from the rear window panel trim (2).
Rear Window Panel Trim Retainer (1) - Remove [3x]
- Rear Window Panel Trim (1) - Remove
- NOTE:
Prior to removal, note the routing of the wire harness to aid in reassembly and to ensure proper installation.
Drop the headlining trim panel (2) down.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Release the retainer. (1) [2x]
- Windshield - Remove - Windshield Replacement
- With the aid of an assistant, remove the headlining trim panel (2) from the vehicle through the front windshield opening.
- Transfer components as necessary.
- If transferring or replacing the wiring harness.
- Take note of the wiring harness locations and measure the harness lead length prior to removing. Mark harness routing locations on new headlining trim panel (2) prior to harness removal.
- Use fiber or plastic trim tool to assist in removing the wiring harness from the headlining trim panel (2), taking care not to damage the harness.
- Remove excess glue and material from the wiring harness and re-tape areas where the tape was removed or damaged.
NOTE:Use a camera to take pictures and use a pencil to mark the new headlining trim panel (2).
The Quarter Upper Trim Panel does not need to be fully removed from the vehicle.
