Removal Procedure
- Set the parking brake in Service Mode. Parking Brake Service Mode Selection
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
{If equipped} Retainer (3) - Remove
- {If equipped} Rear Brake Caliper Bleeder Valve Cap (2) - Remove
- {If equipped} Rear Disc Brake Pad Wear Sensor (1) - Remove
- NOTE:
DO NOT use any air tools to remove or install the guide pin bolts. Use hand tools ONLY.
Rear Brake Caliper Guide Pin Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
- CAUTION:
Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.
NOTE:It is not necessary to disconnect the rear brake hose.
Remove the brake caliper and support with heavy mechanics wire. (1)
- Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
- Rear Brake Caliper Bracket (2) - Remove
- Transfer components as necessary.
It is not necessary to remove the bleeder valve cap if the vehicle is not equipped with a brake pad wear sensor.
