Installation Procedure

    Retaining Ring (2) @ Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft (1) - Install NEW

    Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft (1) - Install

    Partially install the front wheel drive half shaft (1) into the front differential carrier.

  4. Remove the DT-51504  Seal Protector (2) from the front axle shaft seal.
  5. NOTE:

    Ensure that the front wheel drive half shaft (1) is securely engaged to the front wheel drive intermediate shaft.

  6. Completely install the front wheel drive half shaft (1) into the front differential carrier.
  7. Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod @ Steering Knuckle - Install - Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement (without Blackwing) , or Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement (with Blackwing)
  8. Front Suspension Strut @ Steering Knuckle - Install - Strut Assembly Removal and Installation (FE2, FE3, witout F55) , or Strut Assembly Removal and Installation (FE3, FE4, with F55)
  9. Have an assistant apply the brakes.

    CAUTION:

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Front Wheel Drive Shaft Nut (1) - Install NEW and tighten

    1. First Pass: 150 N.m (111 lb ft)
    2. Second Pass: loosen 45 degrees
    3. Final Pass: 270 N.m (199 lb ft)
  11. Engine Front Splash Shield - Install - Engine Front Splash Shield Replacement (AWD) , or Engine Front Splash Shield Replacement (RWD)
  12. Install the right front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (without J57) , or Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (with J57)
  13. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
