Assembly Procedure
- NOTE:
The front suspension strut mount washer (2) is oriented with the conical side up.
Assemble the front strut mount (1), front suspension strut mount washer (2) and front spring upper seat (3).
Front Suspension Mount Lower Cup (1) - Install
- Front Suspension Strut Bumper (2) - Install
- Front Strut Boot (3) - Install
Front Coil Spring Insulator (1) - Install
- Front Coil Spring (2) - Install
- Front Coil Spring Lower Insulator (3) - Install
- Front Suspension Strut (4) - Install
Install the CH-45400-100 Strut Compressor Adapter (1) to the front suspension strut (2).
- WARNING:
To prevent personal injury and/or component damage, use the proper tools to support and compress the coil spring prior to removal of the strut shaft nut when removing the coil spring. The coil spring is under extreme pressure and can become a projectile should the spring separate from the strut before all of the tension is relieved.
Place and center the front suspension strut (2) into the CH-45400-B Strut Spring Compressor (1).
- Position the front suspension strut (2) so the CH-45400-100 Strut Compressor Adapter (3) rests on the three lower arms of the CH-45400-B Strut Spring Compressor.
- Position the upper arms of the CH-45400-B Strut Spring Compressor (1) evenly onto the top of the front strut mount.
- Using the CH-45400-B Strut Spring Compressor (1), compress the front coil spring enough to allow the threaded portion of the front suspension strut rod to pass through the front strut mount.
Front Strut Rod Mount Nut (1) - Install and hand tighten
- CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
Using the CH-50732 Strut Rod Nut Socket, 18mm (1), tighten the front strut rod mount nut to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
Front Suspension Upper Mounting Cap (1) - Install
Release the tension on the front suspension strut (2) and remove it from the CH-45400-B Strut Spring Compressor (1).
Remove the CH-45400-100 Strut Compressor Adapter (1) from the front suspension strut (2).
- Install the front suspension strut assembly to the vehicle. Strut Assembly Removal and Installation (FE3, FE4, with F55)
