Installation Procedure
- CAUTION:
Use caution when removing components surrounding the Steering Gear Boots. Avoid tool contact with the steering gear boot and clamps. Damage to the steering gear boot may lead to dirt and water contamination in the steering gear rack and components requiring a preventable replacement of the Steering Gear and its Components.
NOTE:The front stabilizer shaft insulators are NOT serviceable. Do NOT transfer the insulators.
Front Stabilizer Shaft (3) - Install
- Front Stabilizer Shaft Clamp (2) - Install [2x]
- Front Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Clamp Nut (1) - Loosely install [4x]
- Without installing the front wheels, the left and right engine front splash shields, install the drivetrain and front suspension cradle. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (AWD LSY) , or Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (Blackwing) , or Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (AWD LGY)
- Using suitable jacks position the front suspension at ride height.
- CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
With the vehicle at ride height, tighten the 2 left stabilizer shaft insulator clamp nuts (1) to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).
With the vehicle at ride height, tighten the 2 right stabilizer shaft insulator clamp nuts (1) to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).
- Remove the jacks from the front suspension.
- Install the left and right engine front splash shields. Engine Front Splash Shield Replacement (AWD)
- Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (without J57) , or Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (with J57)
The 4 front stabilizer shaft insulator clamp nuts (1) are to be tightened with the vehicle at ride height.
