Installation Procedure

- Apply approximately 0.09 - 0.15 g (0.003 - 0.005 oz) of anti-seize lubricant to each end of the disc brake pad abutments which contact the brake caliper. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
Rear Disc Brake Outer Pad (1) - Install
- Rear Disc Brake Inner Pad (2) - Install
Rear Brake Caliper (1) - Install
- If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:
- Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
- Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.
- Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [2x]
- First Pass: 100 N.m (74 lb ft)
- Final Pass: 15 - 30 degrees
Rear Disc Brake Pad Spring (2) - Install
- Rear Brake Caliper Guide Pin (1) - Install [2x]
Remove the plug from the rear brake hose.
- Rear Brake Hose Fitting Gasket (3) - Install NEW [2x]
- Rear Brake Hose (1) @Rear Brake Caliper - Install
- Rear Brake Hose Fitting (2) - Install and tighten - Rear Brake Hose Replacement (J6H)
{If equipped}Rear Disc Brake Pad Wear Sensor (1) @Rear Disc Brake Inner Pad - Install
- Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
- Slowly release the brake pedal.
- Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 15 - 16 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
- Bleed the brake system. Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (J57, J6H, JL9)
- Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (without J57)
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
