Assembly Procedure
Install the bleeder valve cap (1) and the brake caliper bleeder valve (2) and hand tighten the brake caliper bleeder valve (2).
Lubricate the brake caliper piston seal with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Install the brake caliper piston seal (1) into the brake caliper housing groove. Ensure the brake caliper piston seal is properly seated in the caliper housing groove and is not distorted.
Install the brake caliper piston dust boot seal (1) into the brake caliper housing dust boot groove.
- Firmly run finger around the diameter of the dust boot seal (1) to ensure it is fully seated.
- Lightly lubricate the brake caliper piston dust boot seal lip with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Lightly lubricate the brake caliper piston with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
Place the brake caliper piston (1) in the brake caliper housing body aligning park brake spindle nut flat features with corresponding flat features inside piston hollow so when the brake caliper piston (1) is pressed into the bore the spindle nut and piston mate.
- Stretch the brake caliper piston boot over the hollow end of the brake caliper piston (1).
- Press the brake caliper piston (1) into the brake caliper bore.
Rotate piston (1) in bore to align piston face slots so they are perpendicular to a line between the caliper housing mounting holes.
- Install the brake caliper. Rear Brake Caliper Replacement (JL9, J56)
- Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
