Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Set the parking brake in Service Mode.
    1. Install a scan tool.
    2. Turn the ignition ON with engine OFF
    3. Select Electronic Brake Control Module.
    4. Select Control Functions.
    5. NOTE:

      Do NOT apply any brake pressure during this step.

    6. Select Rear Brake Caliper Piston Retract.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  4. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (without J57) , or Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (with J57)

    NOTE:
    • DO NOT use any air tools to remove or install the guide pin bolts. Use hand tools ONLY.
    • Install an open end wrench to hold the caliper guide pin in line with the brake caliper while removing or installing caliper guide pin bolt. DO NOT allow the open end wrench to come in contact with the brake caliper. Allowing the open end wrench to come in contact with the brake caliper will cause a pulsation when the brakes are applied.

    Brake Caliper Guide Pin Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

    CAUTION:

    Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.

    Remove the brake caliper (1) and support with heavy mechanics wire.

    Inner Disc Brake Pad (1) - Remove

    Outer Disc Brake Pad (1) - Remove

    Disc Brake Pad Spring (1) - Remove [2x]

    Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

    Rear Brake Caliper Bracket (1) - Remove

  12. Transfer components as necessary.
