Extension Housing Assembly

Install a NEW transmission fluid cooler outlet pipe fitting (1) and tighten to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
Install the transmission case plug (2), and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

Install the transmission fluid pump check ball (3).
Install the transmission fluid pump check ball spring (2).
Install and tighten the transmission adapter plug (1) to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

The pump needs to be coated and filled with transmission fluid before installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
Install a oil pump (3).
Install the oil pump cover assembly (2).
Install a NEW transmission fluid pump retaining ring (1).

CAUTION:
If the 1st/2nd speed shift shaft bearing is installed incorrectly it will interfere with the inner shift rail seal causing a leak.

Use the J-36190 Universal Driver Handle (1) with the J-44384 Bearing Installer (2) to install the 1st and 2nd speed shift shaft bearing (3) flush with the clutch housing.

Use the J-36190 Universal Driver Handle (1) with the J-39439-1 Shift Rail Bushing Removal/Installer (2) to install the 3rd and 4th speed shift shaft bushing (3) flush with the clutch housing.

Use the J-39433 Input Shaft Seal Installer to install the input shaft seal (1).

NOTE:
One or more shims may be used.

Install one or more countershaft bearing shims (2) and the bearing race (1). Refer to input shaft, mainshaft and countershaft in Shimming Procedures .
