Installation Procedure

    Position the intermediate steering shaft (1) in the vehicle.

  2. Intermediate Steering Shaft (1) @ Electric Belt Drive Rack and Pinion Steering Gear - Install

    Prepare the intermediate steering shaft lower bolt (1) for installation as follows:

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  4. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  5. Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    NOTE:
    • Quantity of fasteners may vary based on option content.
    • Some components not shown for graphic clarity.

    Engine Front Splash Shield (3) - Install

  7. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [5x] - Fastener Specifications
  8. Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer (2) - Install [2x]
  9. Install the left front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  10. Lower the vehicle.

    Mid Lower Intermediate Steering Shaft (1) @ Intermediate Steering Shaft - Install

  12. Prepare the mid intermediate steering shaft bolt (2) for installation as follows:
    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  13. Mid Intermediate Steering Shaft Bolt (2) @ Intermediate Steering Shaft - Install - Fastener Specifications 
  14. Remove the device preventing the steering column from rotating.
