Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  2. GM5420683

    Engine Mount Nut (1) - Remove

  3. Engine Mount Bolt (2) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

    Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [5x]

  6. Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Retainer (2) - Remove [2x]

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) - Remove

  8. Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer (2) - Remove
  9. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (3) - Remove
  10. GM5398000

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (3) - Remove

  11. Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer (2) - Remove
  12. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (1) - Remove
  13. GM5398001

    Front Compartment Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [6x]

  14. GM5398004

    Front Compartment Air Deflector - (1) Remove

  15. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  16. Oil Filter - Remove and DISCARD

    Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect

  18. CAUTION:

    When raising or supporting the engine for any reason, do not use a jack under the oil pan, any sheet metal, or the crankshaft pulley. Lifting the engine in an unapproved manner may cause component damage.

  19. Position a screw jack and a block of wood under the transmission bell-housing.
  20. Use the screw jack to raise the engine just enough to remove the engine mount.
  21. Engine Mount (2) - Remove
  22. CAUTION:

    Phenolic spacer must be present to prevent galvanic/corrosive reaction and/or excessive temperature conduction between engine mount bracket and engine mount. Replace mount if phenolic spacer is missing or damaged. Failure to ensure phenolic spacer is intact and not damaged can lead to premature failure of engine mount and/or engine mount bracket.

  23. Ensure the phenolic spacer (3) remains in place.

    Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (1) - Unclip [3x]

  25. Engine Wiring Harness (2) - Reposition away

    Engine Mount Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove and DISCARD [3x]

  27. Engine Mount Bracket (2) - Remove
