Circuit/System Testing

  1. Transmission in Park.
  2. Ignition Off, disconnect X3 connector at the K9 Body Control Module.
  3. Test for less than Infinite resistance between Terminal 20 and ground.
    • If infinite Resistance 
    1. Disconnect the connector at the S3 Transmission Shift Lever.
    2. Test signal circuit 5905 for open/high resistance.
      • If open/high resistance is found repair the circuit
      • Go to next step: If open/high resistance is not found
    3. Test the ground circuit 2851 for an open/high resistance.
      • if open/high resistance is found repair the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If open/high resistance is not found
    4. Replace the S3 Transmission Shift Lever.
    • Go to next step: If less than infinite resistance 
  4. Set the Parking Brake.
  5. NOTE:

    It may be necessary to manually override the M7 Transmission Shift Lock Control Solenoid Actuator to perform the following steps.

  6. Place the shift lever in the Neutral Position.
  7. Disconnect the connector at the S3 Transmission Shift Lever.
  8. Test circuit 5905 for a short to ground.
    • If a short to ground is found repair the circuit
    • Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found.
  9. Place the shift lever in the Park Position.
  10. Connect the connector at the S3 Transmission Shift Lever.
  11. Ignition On, Run Mode.
  12. Test circuit 5905 for a short to Voltage.
    • If a short to voltage is found repair the short.
    • Go to next step: If a short to voltage is not found
  13. Replace the K9 Body Control Module.
