Installation Procedure

  1. GM5045206
    NOTE:

    Ensure that the sealing surface is clear of oil, grease and old sealant material.

    NOTE:

    Ensure proper use of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. Use of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) and Anaerobic Sealant

    NOTE:

    Do not allow RTV to skim over, the positive crankcase ventilation baffle must be installed within 8 minutes of RTV being applied.

    Apply room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant as indicated (1). Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

    Positive Crankcase Ventilation Baffle (2) - Install

  3. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Baffle Bolt (1) - Install and hand tighten [12x]
    4. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Baffle Bolt (1) - Tighten in sequence [12x] - Fastener Specifications

    Auxiliary Generator Battery Jumper Cable (2) - Install

  6. Battery Positive Cable Nut (1) @ Starter Solenoid - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  7. Electrical Connector (4) - Connect
  8. Starter (3) - Install

    Starter Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

  10. Starter Stud (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Auxiliary Generator Battery Jumper Cable - Install

  12. Auxiliary Generator Battery Jumper Cable Terminal Nut (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  13. Retainer (3) - Engage

    Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve Seal (2) - Install NEW

  15. Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve (1) - Install

    Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [5x] - Fastener Specifications

    Electrical Connector (2) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Connect [2x]

  18. Electrical Connector (1) @ Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor - Connect

    Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Inlet Pipe (3) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install

  20. Exhaust Manifold Outlet Pipe (2) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install
  21. Hose Clamp (1) - Engage [2x] - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type

    Engine Oil Cooler Coolant Inlet Hose (4) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install

  23. Radiator Inlet Hose (3) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install
  24. Thermostat Bypass Pipe (2) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install
  25. Hose Clamp (1) - Engage [3x] - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type

    Crankcase Vent Passage Seal (4) - Install NEW

  27. Intake Manifold Gasket (3) - Install NEW [4x]

    Intake Manifold (1) - Install

    Intake Manifold Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications

    Retainer (1) - Install

    Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube (2) @ Throttle Body (3) - Install

  32. Retainer Spring (1) - Engage

    Oil Level Indicator Tube (2) - Install

  34. Oil Level Indicator Tube Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Upper Intake Manifold Cover (1) - Install

    Intake Manifold Cover Stud (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

  37. Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Pump (2) - Install

  39. Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Pump Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

    Engine Wiring Harness (4) - Reposition

  41. Retainer (3) - Install [4x]
  42. Electrical Connector (2) - Connect [2x]
  43. Engine Wiring Harness Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Throttle Body Electrical Connector (1) - Connect

    Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose (3) - Reposition

  46. Retainer (2) - Install [3x]
  47. Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube (1) - Connect

    Evaporative Emission Pipe (2) - Connect

  49. Fuel Feed Pipe (1) - Connect

    NOTE:

    Ensure the intake manifold cover insulator retainers fully engage the intake manifold cover studs.

    Intake Manifold Cover Insulator (1) - Install

    Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Intake Manifold Cover (1) @ Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (2) - Install

  53. GM5432171

    Push down on the front of the intake manifold cover (2).

  54. Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  55. Install the oil fill cap.
  56. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  57. Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (RWD) 
  58. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (L3B Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (L3B GE 47716)
  59. Pressurize the fuel system and inspect for leaks.
  60. Perform the intake system learned values reset. Intake System Learned Values Reset
  61. Perform the throttle body idle air flow compensation reset. Throttle Body Idle Air Flow Compensation Reset
