Installation Procedure

  1. GM5517315

    Engine Mount Bracket (2) - Install

    2. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution .

  2. Engine Mount Bracket Bolt (1) - Install NEW and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Intermediate Steering Shaft (1) - Install

    Prepare the intermediate steering shaft lower bolt (1) for installation as follows:

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  5. Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Install the mid intermediate steering shaft to the intermediate steering shaft by sliding the upper portion of the intermediate shaft (1) upward.

  7. Prepare the mid intermediate steering shaft bolt (2) for installation as follows:
    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  8. Mid Intermediate Steering Shaft Bolt (2) - Install - Fastener Specifications

    Auxiliary Generator Battery Jumper Cable (2) - Move into position

  10. Auxiliary Generator Battery Jumper Cable Terminal Nut (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  11. Retainer (3) - Engage

    Engine Mount (1) - Install

    NOTE:

    Do NOT tighten all of the way.

    Engine Mount Bolt (1) - Install NEW and hand tighten [2x]

  14. Lower screw jack until the engine sits on mount.
  15. Remove jack and block of wood from under engine.

    Electrical Connector (1) - Connect

    Engine Mount Nut (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

  18. Engine Mount Bolt (1) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Engine Wiring Harness (2) - Move into position

  20. Retainer (1) - Install [3x]

    Engine Oil Cooler Coolant Inlet Hose (2) - Install

  22. Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Heat Exchanger Inlet Hose (3) - Install
  23. Hose Clamp (1) - Engage [2x]

    Engine Oil Cooler Coolant Outlet Hose (2) - Install

  25. Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Heat Exchanger Outlet Hose (3) - Install
  26. Hose Clamp (1) - Engage [2x]

    { If equipped } Front Crossmember Brace (2) - Install

  28. { If equipped } Front Crossmember Brace Nut (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Radiator Inlet Hose (3) - Install

  30. Radiator Inlet Hose Clip (2) @ Radiator Inlet Hose Bracket - Install
  31. Radiator Inlet Hose Clamp (1) @ Radiator - Engage [1x] - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type

    Front Compartment Air Deflector (2) - Install

  33. Front Compartment Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

  35. Push Pin (2) - Install [2x]
  36. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (3) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  37. GM5396453

    Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (3) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

  38. Push Pin (2) - Install [2x]
  39. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [5x] - Fastener Specifications

  41. Push Pin (2) - Install [2x]
  42. GM5517201

    Oil Level Indicator Tube (2) - Install

  43. Oil Level Indicator Tube Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  44. GM5504108

    Engine Wiring Harness (4) - Reposition

  45. Engine Wiring Harness Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    NOTE:

    Ensure the intake manifold cover insulator retainers fully engage the intake manifold cover studs.

    Intake Manifold Cover Insulator (1) - Install

  47. GM5456746

    Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

  48. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (L3B Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (L3B GE 47716)
  49. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  50. Check the cooling system for leaks.
  51. Remove the device preventing the steering column from rotating.
