Reverse Idler Gear Shaft Bracket Bolt (2) - Remove [3x]
- Reverse Idler Gear Shaft Bracket (1) - Remove
Reverse Idler Gear (1) - Remove
- Reverse Idler Gear Bearing (2) - Remove
- Reverse Idler Gear Shaft (3) - Remove
Counter Gear Rear Bearing Retaining Ring (1) - Remove and DISCARD
- Cut away the plastic roller bearing cage (2) from the counter gear rear bearing.
- Remove and DISCARD the bearings (2) and the cage.
- Install the DT-45124 Removal Bridge (5), DT-45124-9 Puller Leg (6), and DT-29369-2 Bushing and Bearing Remover - 2 - 3 in (7) in the counter gear rear bearing cup from the extension housing and remove the counter gear rear bearing cup.
- Remove the transmission oil funnel (4) from the counter gear rear bearing race (3). DISCARD the bearing.
Using the DT-29369-2 Bushing and Bearing Remover - 2 - 3 in (3) and J-23907-1 Slide Hammer with Bearing Adapter (2), remove the shift shaft bushing (1).
Using a suitable tool, pry out the main shaft rear seal (1) and DISCARD.
Remove and DISCARD the main shaft bearing retaining ring (1).
- Place the extension housing on a flat work surface. Locate the oil clearance gap between the housing and the main shaft bearing race.
- Insert a brass drift through the main shaft opening of the extension housing, into the oil clearance gap. Using a mallet, tap down on the drift to remove the main shaft bearing (2) and race (3).
Using the DT-8092 Universal Driver Handle (2) and J-39439-2 Shift Rail Bushing Remover (3), remove the reverse rail bushing (1).
Manual Transmission Reverse Gear Blockout Solenoid Housing Bolt (1) - Remove
- Manual Transmission Reverse Gear Blockout Solenoid Housing (2) - Remove
Transmission Oil Drain Plug (1) - Remove
- Manual Transmission Output Speed Sensor Bolt (3) - Remove
- Manual Transmission Output Speed Sensor (2) - Remove
The plastic roller bearing cage (2) and bearings are part of the countershaft bearing assembly. Always use a new countershaft bearing assembly.
The bearing race is part of the counter gear rear bearing. Always use a new counter gear rear bearing.
Do not replace the bearing race unless inspection shows bearing race damage.
