Installation Procedure

    Install the automatic transmission range selector lever cable bracket (2).

  2. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install and tighten the two automatic transmission range selector lever cable bracket bolts (1). Fastener Specifications
  4. Raise the transmission to the installed position.

    Apply a thin layer of grease to the transmission output shaft splines (1). Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

  6. Loosely install a NEW propeller shaft hub clamp (3) to the propeller shaft joint boot.
  7. Support and secure the propeller shaft (2) to a suitable hydraulic jack stand.
  8. Propeller Shaft (2) - Install

    Prepare the 2 propeller shaft bearing support bolts (1) for installation as follows:

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  10. Propeller Shaft Bearing Support Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  11. Remove the hydraulic jack stand supporting the propeller shaft.

    Prepare the 3 rear propeller shaft bolts (1) and nuts (3) for installation as follows:

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  13. Align the relationship marks (2) made on the propeller shaft and the rear differential flange.
  14. Rear Propeller Shaft Bolt (1) - Install [3x]
  15. Rear Propeller Shaft Nut (3) - Loosely install [3x]
  16. Rear Propeller Shaft Bolt (1) - Tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

  18. Ensure that the drive shaft boot is completely seated in the output shaft groove prior to crimping the propeller shaft hub clamp (2).
  19. Using the DT-35910  Drive Axle Seal Clamp Pliers (1), crimp the propeller shaft hub clamp (2) until the final crimped outer diameter (a) is 39 - 41 mm (1.54 - 1.61 in).

    Transmission Mount (2) - Install

  21. NOTE:

    For proper bolt alignment, loosely install all mount bolts prior to tightening to specifications.

    Floor Panel Number 2 Cross Bar Reinforcement (1) - Install

    Catalytic Converter Gasket (2) - Install NEW

    Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Right Side (5) - Install

  40. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Plastic Nut (3) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

  42. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut (4) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Rear Tire Front Air Deflector- Right Side (1) - Install

    Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Left Side (5) - Install

  47. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Plastic Nut (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  48. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt (3) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  49. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut (4) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Rear Tire Front Air Deflector- Left Side (2) - Install

  52. Rear Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Install the automatic transmission range selector lever cable (2) into the range selector lever cable bracket.

  54. If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:
    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.
    4. Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
  55. WARNING:

    Ensure that the cable is properly aligned to the transmission bracket prior to tightening the fastener in order to avoid any damage to the cable and/or bracket. Failure to perform this task can result in the shifter moving out of the Park position unintentionally, causing potential vehicle damage and bodily injury.

    NOTE:

    Ensure the automatic transmission range selector cable is aligned to the automatic transmission range selector lever cable bracket prior to tightening.

  56. Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  57. If necessary, perform the range selector lever cable adjustment. Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment 
  58. Release the parking brake and remove the wheel chocks.
  59. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
