Installation Procedure

  1. GM5443216
    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution

    Positive Crankcase Ventilation Oil Separator Drain Pipe (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

  2. Clean all sealing surfaces.
  3. Spray Low LOC brake cleaner on the LCE sealing surface and wipe off with a clean shop towel. Avoided touching the surface after cleaning and air dry with shop air.
  4. Wipe the oil pan surface with the Adhesion Plastic Pan Primer Promoter Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers with a clean shop towel. Allow the cleaner to flash / evaporate. Wipe off the sealing surfaces with a lint free cloth. Do not touch the sealing surface after cleaning to avoid inducing containment debris to the bonding surface area.
  5. Ensure proper use of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. Use of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) and Anaerobic Sealant

    Apply approximately a 4 mm (0.16 in) thick bead of sealant (1) to the lower oil pan. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

    NOTE:
    • The engine block lower structural extension surface must be free of contamination prior to applying the sealer.
    • Install and align the oil pan to the block within 10 minutes after applying the sealer.
    • The oil pan must be fastened to final torque specification within 15 minutes after applying the sealer.

    Install the EN-52483  Guide Pins (1) in two locations to keep oil pan square.

  8. Lower Oil Pan (2) - Install
  9. Lower Oil Pan Bolt (3) - Install and tighten in sequence [18x] - Fastener Specifications
  10. Remove the EN-52483  Guide Pins (1).
  11. Install wiring harness retainer.
  12. Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (RWD) , or Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (AWD) 
  13. Perform the engine oil life reset. GM Oil Life System Resetting (With Scan Tool) , or GM Oil Life System Resetting (Without Scan Tool)
