Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY with V03 Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY with V03 GE 47716) , or
  2. Disconnect the battery. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection

    Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (1) - Loosen [2x]

  4. Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube (2) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  5. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube (3) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Air Cleaner Outlet Duct (1) - Remove

    Electrical Connector (1) @ Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (2) - Disconnect

  9. GM5135894

    Disconnect the electrical connector.

  10. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose Connector Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
  11. Retainer (2) - Unclip [2x]
  12. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose (3) - Remove
  13. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose Fitting Seal (4) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]

    Retainer Spring (1) - Release

  15. Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Tube (2) @ Turbocharger (3) - Remove
  16. Disconnect and reposition heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.

    Turbocharger Heat Shield Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  18. GM5309997

    Turbocharger Heat Shield (1) - Remove

  19. GM5310138

    Catalytic Converter Heat Shield Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  20. Catalytic Converter Heat Shield Nut (2) - Remove
  21. GM5310178

    Catalytic Converter Heat Shield (1) - Remove

    Exhaust Pipe Clamp (1) - Loosen

  23. GM5135656

    Electrical Connector (1) @ Turbocharger Bypass Valve Solenoid (2) - Disconnect

    Electrical Connector (1) @ Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator - Disconnect

  25. Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (2) @ Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe - Remove [2x]

    Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  27. Turbocharger Coolant Feed Hose Clamp (2) - Disengage [2x] - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type

    Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

    Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe (1) - Remove

  30. Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD
  31. GM5049439

    Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  32. Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Gasket (1) - Remove and DISCARD
  33. GM5049638

    Turbocharger Bolt (3) - Remove and DISCARD [4x]

  34. Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger (1) - Remove
  35. Turbocharger Heat Shield (2) - Remove and DISCARD
  36. Exhaust Pipe Clamp (1) - Remove and DISCARD
  37. Catalytic Converter Gasket - Remove and DISCARD
  38. Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD
  39. Clean all sealing surfaces.
