Terminal Removal Procedure

0.64 Terminals 

  1. Remove any tape or wire tires from the wire cover

    Press and hold the front of the wire cover (1) and lift the front of it until it clears the cam lever (2).

  3. Rotate the wire cover (1) so that the locking tabs (3) move out of the connector slots (4) until the wire cover is free.

    • (1) Mating Face of the Connector
    • (2) Terminal Cavity Position Number 1
    • (3) Move the TPA downwards from the top to the fully unlocked position (red showing in the center).
  4. NOTE:

    The TPA is in the released position when the red TPA is visible in the center slots from the mating face of the connector as shown in the figure above. This verifies the terminal locking latch can be released to remove the terminal.

  5. Move the TPA (3) to the released position from the mating face of the connector (1) with terminal cavity position 1 (3) in the front bottom left, insert a small screwdriver into the top TPA slots on both sides, and move the TPA downwards until it stops, an audible click will be heard or felt from each side.

    Push the wire of the terminal to be removed towards the connector (1) so there is more clearance between the terminal locking tab (4) and the terminal (3).

  7. Insert the tip of the terminal removal tool (2) J-38125-215A into the circuit cavity between the top of the terminal (3) and the circuit cavity latch (4).

    Gently push and rotate (1) the tool toward the terminal tab (2) to release the terminal locking tab, Pull the wire (3) out of the connector.

  9. Remove terminal from connector body, it should take very little effort to remove the terminal from the connector housing. If excessive effort is required, verify that the terminal locking tab is fully released per step 7.

2.8 and 6.3 Terminals 

  1. Remove any tape or wire tires from the wire cover

    Press and hold the front of the wire cover (1) and lift the front of it until it clears the cam lever (2).

  3. Rotate the wire cover (1) so that the locking tabs (3) move out of the connector slots (4) until the wire cover is free.

    • (3) Move the TPA downwards from the top to the fully unlocked position (red showing in the center).
  4. NOTE:

  5.     Push and hold the wire in (1) while inserting the tips of the terminal; removal tool J-38125-556 (2) so that one tip enters in the opening above the terminal and one enters below the terminal.

    Gently push the tool (1) until the terminal locking tabs (2) are deflected

  8. While holding the tool in place, gently pull the wire (3) until the terminal is free from the connector
